I used Mahomes and Love because I find that some in this audience may not even remember much about 2005, 2006, and 2007,when Aaron was backing up Brett. I of course was close to it and remember seeing Aaron play at training camp and preseason, and then knowing he was our next franchise QB. Vikings fans at that time said the Packers would be doomed for decades once Favre was traded to the Jets. And said the same when Aaron was traded to the Jets.
But back to McCarthy, I guess you are set on thinking McCarthy isn't ready, and are ok with McCarthy not playing this year or next if he is deemed not ready next season. You "don't want him playing a second before he is ready." Cool.
Not sure how he magically will become "ready" by not playing, but apparently there is a great QB coach and OC who will be spending the most time developing him while KO runs the team.
But yes, it will all work out for the Vikings because the Vikings are going to be like KC with Mahomes and Green Bay with Rodgers and Love. Oh, but you aren't sold on Love. Well the people that matter are, and the contract extension he will be signing very soon will be reflective of that. But very team friendly structurally. J-Love wants that as well.
I do wish the Vikings the best. Except the 2 games in the division every year. I don't expect the Vikings in the playoffs any time soon, and neither do you apparently. So, no chance of a Packers and Vikings playoff meeting in the next couple years.
I also wish McCarthy the best, hope he is the guy. I like when the NFC North is stronger.
The scouting reports on JJM were pretty clear that he'd need to sit for at least a year. I don't think that magically changes just because he got picked 10th. I think the logic of starting him now because of his draft slot is flawed because of it. A lot of really smart football people said he would need some time. I'm willing to give it to him. There's plenty to getting ready that doesn't involve games. I do agree though that at some point he's got to be under center on Sundays, and if he's ready this year, by all means start him. I simply don't want it happening because Darnold sucked and KOC/KAM bowed to pressure. That's not good for anyone. I'll be more concerned if next year at this time he's still not ready. That speaks to other things.
And yes, every team is better with the NFC North is stronger.
