Let me be clear when we talk QB contracts take Joe Burrow out of the conversation... not only do you have to get the #1 pick you have to do it the right year....

And again let me be clear. I WILL NEVER SUPPORT TANKING or a "TANK YEAR" to get a draft pick...... EVER

This portion wasn't there when I initially responded but I addressed the cut out portion already. As for this part I think it is you that's going on a rant and acting like a child here lol. I have been responding to basic issues in your logic/context and often am pointing out actual facts in response. This is what it looks like when someone seems upset.

It isn't a requirement that in order to support a team you must agree and defend all moves made no matter how foolish/ridiculous. Being an extreme homer or not supporting the team are not the only options. Sure there is some over the top stuff complaining but there is also plenty of over the top defenses (even using strawman arguments while ignoring the facts/point being made). That is how a fanbase normally operates. It changes none of the discussion we have been having on Cousins and his cap hit or what was previously said though.

You can take whatever approach you choose as I have already said. So can those that disagree with you though, you don't get to force everyone to like the failures of the past few years and tripling down on them. If you want to explain why it's over the top go ahead. I have been explaining why using facts/reality/logic most understand Kirk and his cap hit are a big issue in terms of what happened to this team falling off.

My point is management has basically stated with this move "we are going to do the best we can to win a Superbowl" so lets move on... Its tiring at this point... and unrelated what is up with you Midwesterners and the word "strawman" lol... what a dumb ass word... cringeworthy none the less. 

Strawman is a term for when someone tries to deflect their argument to a different point because theirs isn't working. Ie not actually adressing the meat of the point. It isn't a Midwest thing. It's a communication / debate thing. Term existed pre-united states. Fyi.

1. Except even in this you still note that you did in fact overpay for one. That is the entire point, you can't just use that other players are at a discount on his side of the ball to justify the contract. We have a ton of holes still on this roster and his cap hit and constantly pushing other contracts back or keeping aging players to "fit" this window is a large part of the problem.

Pretending it isn't because you can point to JJ on a rookie contract isn't logical it is actively looking to defend overpaying Cousins himself. The individual aspect still matters and you can note the obvious you overpaid for one in the example you came up with. That's the point. 

2. You might have 0 problem with it but it doesn't change that it is an overpay to almost everyone else. It doesn't change that we keep doing this and he regularly has a top 5ish type cap hit without even being a top 10 QB. That issue has created more and more of a problem as we doubled and now tripled down on him/that plan.

3. I already covered multiple other options. Just because you call something tanking doesn't make it so, we had more success with Case Keenum for one season than we have had in 4 with Cousins. Tanking is also still an option even if you don't personally like it. The point is there were other options either way.

4. You thinking that doesn't negate the reality of what happened. Anyone can think their team will do better next year. There are Jets and Browns fans that have been saying they would win a SB every year probably. The reality of what happened should be very telling to anyone wanting to use context in their decision making. I can agree we may not have played up to our potential even but this roster has been aging, we can't retain everyone and our cap situation is getting even worse too. 

5. It seems like your issue on most of these is that you just have an opinion that this team should do what they are. It doesn't matter about the context or history despite what was said earlier. That's fine. What I said and have been pointing out is still true even if it doesn't change your opinion. We haven't actually picked a QB in the top 10 so saying it won't work look at our history is a pretty pointless response. It could easily work you simply don't want to try for it. 

6. Zimmer was the coach that lead us that far, he didn't magically drop from good to bad coach overnight (NFC championship to no playoffs at all). The real difference for our team that changed things was Cousins and his salary added on board. That is exactly when it started going downhill. None of this changes the reality that the last time we drafted a QB in the first round it lead to a more successful following 4 years than this Cousins experiment though. That again is a reality no matter if you want to try drafting one and moving forward or not. You can't say it won't work when it literally was more successful the last time we tried it even with a horrific injury to that QB. 


You are allowed to have opinions that despite 4 years of this, despite the drop off since, despite the holes and no cap space that the Vikings are on the path to a SB in the next 2 years. The context I am laying out is reality though whether or not you want to use it when deciding what is likely to happen. The reason many might disagree with you is they are actually taking all of this context into account when they judge our moves. 

1. Show me which team has no player "overpaid" and no dead money... Ill hang up and listen... (keep in mind i dont think we over paid for Cousins this time, iv just been saying if you think such....) I dont think we got a special deal but we didnt over pay like the Cowboys with Dak etc... Which I would of also done... QB hell is fierce... ask the Jets and Giants

6. If we didnt give up touchdowns at a historic pass in the halfs last 2 mins last season what would our record be. Cousins dont play defense. Cmon now... 


Its a high percentage point to say the Vikings wont win the superbowl this year... 100% historic success rate... I say lets see what these new guys vision is for this roster. Its entirely possible the coaches and GM know more than the fans on an internet message board... im not saying we will win the Super Bowl what im saying is we WILL be good, how good? I have no idea but i wanna watch and find out...

2. Low top 10ish but at time can play like a top 3 and at times can play like a real sh*t... Very weird dude. The talent is certainly there, the arm talent is top notch, can thread needles when he HAS to, a coach needs to make him do it when he dont HAVE to, very good when kept clean - like a premier passer in a clean pocket, not an asshole or behavioral issue guy, is really good rolling out to his left which is weird for a righty, think a bright offensive mind could he him doing what hes good at and thats what I wanna see.

4. Cherry picking success - got it... Spoiler alert the O Line fell apart week 16 2017 and hasnt been the same since. Xavier Rhodes was the best corner in football for one year and then inexplicable disappeared from relevance. Having a lockdown superstar corner is SUCH A HUGE ADVANTAGE. Rhodes was so good that year.

Correct to some extent, but its well documented on this board in my other post ill never support a tank job, ill never trade future first round picks to put a QB on a credit card and mortgage the future and as long as they didnt do either id give this new management team enough rope to hang themselves and hope they know more than me. hell they better...

I think we have an understanding here and i hope im right and for your favorite team's sake you should hope i am too... Again am i saying oh yeah we are going to the Superbowl??? f*ck no... Im putting all my chips in and everyone can call me an asshole (if they havent already) if im wrong and we win 8 games... I say minimum 2 games over .500 and a playoff win and then we'll see what happens hopefully some lucky bounces and we get hot... If somehow we get hot and get to the conference championship its simply 2 coin flips.
