I just think that's blatantly looking to point the finger at Cousins. If you on the side of let's roll with a Marcus Mariota or Kellen Mond and win 4 games I can't get behind that. Never will.
What is the total money spent on offense vs production? Same for the defense. Save some here over spend on some here because of supply and demand. That's how any business works.
Supply and demand drives the market.
If we are a top 5 offense and get fair value out of the overall investment or better so be it. 35 mil for Kirk is fine. It's 2 years then we slide a rookie in there and pay Jefferson and need to replace Thielen and Cook prob then too.
Cook, Thielen, and Kirk are all likely gone in 2024 and that's fine. Let's do the best we can for now while a QB similar to Kirk just won a Superbowl on the worst the NFC had been in 30 plus years.
Take a stab that's all. Nobody can see the future and we get a fresh set of eyes and philosophies over seeing the game and I'm here for it.
No, it's the reality of the situation? Kirk is making the money he is and it does hinder us overall having a QB constantly paid that high. No QB has ever won a SB making this high of a % of the cap. That is the reason he gets some blame but it isn't just looking to point the finger at him it's the reality of the situation. I wouldn't mind one 4 win season compared to 4 seasons wasted like we just did in mediocrity since Cousins personally. You could have traded for Baker+picks, traded him for best pick package and signed Winston there are other options even if not as good at Cousins that allow us to reset with cap/additional capital from a trade.
I am not sure but as I just pointed out the total misses a lot of context like rookie contracts producing etc. compared to paying market value for everyone. I am sure defense is worse in that look but it's because the draft has been mostly offensive guys hitting comparatively.
I think Kirk is slightly worse than Stafford and we don't have the same amount of talent as they just won with either. Doing the best we can now and waiting until our older vets aren't that valuable so we can move on is a waste of time.
That's fine, it's ok if you want to be optimistic but it doesn't change really anything being pointed out related to Cousins/issues with the cap we now have. That we are tripling down after the "success" it has produced isn't something everyone is going to be happy with though. I am going to try looking at the bright side too and hope with all the talent/new coach we can finally have that top 5 unit but defensively it will be tough to even be average I fear.
