Klint Kubiak got his Texas A&M position because of his dad's connections with the school. Klint was given a quality control assignment before he was a graduate assistant.
Klint got his original job with the Vikings in 2013 and 2014 because of Bill Musgrave's connections to Gary Kubiak. Musgrave played for Kubiak in Denver.
Klint got his offensive assistant job in 2016 in Denver because his dad was the head coach. Klint retained that position under offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave after Gary Kubiak stepped down.
Klint became quarterbacks coach in Minnesota as part of the deal that brought in Gary Kubiak as first assistant head coach & offensive advisor in 2019 and then assistant head coach & offensive coordinator in 2020.
On a side note, offensive line coach and run game coordinator Rick Dennison also came with the package. Dennison has long ties with the Kubiaks as a player and coach. Dennison was Gary Kubiak's clickboard holder as offensive coordinator in name only in Houston and Denver. He failed as an offensive coordinator on his own in Buffalo.
To say that only the FIRST coaching job Klint got was because of his father is not a valid statement. One could state that the only coaching position Klint got on his own was his single year as a wide receivers coach at Kansas in 2015, but even then, Kansas head coach David Beaty knew Klint Kubiak from coaching together at Texas A&M. Kansas was 0-12 in 2015.
Does Klint deserve a chance? Who's to know, but that's not the point.
In any case, this is a clear example of nepotism and the old boys and young sons network in the NFL. One must ask, who was passed over along the way for Klint Kubiak to get his chance? Who would not get a chance because nepotism allowed Klint Kubiak to do so?
You don't actually need to answer. You weren't. Don't speak authoritatively on issues you don't have direct knowledge of.
It is my hope that Klint Kubiak does a better job than Ryan Saunders did for the Timberwolves, but to look at little Kubiak's resume and not see the nepotism involved in his career is being disingenuous.
I guess Adam Zimmer was promoted to defensive coordinator because he was just the best candidate too. I wasn't in the meeting, so nothing to see here.
