Thanks Danchat. That's how I remembered it. We were on the clock and Hamilton was just sitting there. Widely considered the best value by far, but undervalued because of his position. I was begging for us to pick him but, you know.....

Ironic that KAM wanted more picks to develop a core of young players to build around. I guess we now have the "new KAM." Same crap as the "old KAM." I want "no KAM."

on the bright side he's built a team that's 8-2 and competing for a division title

KAM is a double edged sword. If I was vikings owner he would have been gone a very long time ago, even before the 2023 draft. 100% truth. But unfortunately I doubt he will be gone anytime soon. While it seems like he has done some good things in FA and contract/cap management, I wonder if his supporting cast deserves the real credit. I'm pretty certain Rob Brz has a lot to do with the contracts and cap situation being as good as it is. I have less of a take on the FA process but having a whole season to discuss a plan with coaches seems like a more calculated move and may be why it has gone better. The draft is more of a quick decision process and the videos put out showing the inside look sure make it seem like its KAM making all the decisions. He really needs to improve in this branch of his job, go all-in on getting some better evaluators and decision makers close to his ear. Hoping he can look in the mirror and recognize that he needs to improve in this area and will make some changes.

What is it you find funny about this, or worthy of mocking me? What I said is true...most talk regarding our pick did NOT have us drafting Hamilton...if you did, you were in an extreme minority.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but he was also hurt apparently during a few of those bad games. If he's finally healthy, that might be the issue. Hopefully he looks the part going forward or gets benched in favor of Turner if he does not.

It was certainly a big overpay at the time. If you didn't agree, why didn't you weigh in with this back then?

I did weigh in back then. I had no issue with it.

But I'm sorry, this was a trade of our second round pick for a late ish 1st round pick. That usually is going to require a high pick the following year, and most likely more than a 3rd (unless you're KAM in his first draft lol).

One slight caveat. Yes, it was traded on the clock. It was also traded IMMEDIATELY. I'm guessing the deal was already worked out because as soon as we were on the clock it was announced that we traded the pick. There's plenty of comments about that, especially given how low of the value we received.

So I'm not sure I'd say that the trigger wasn't pulled before hand. Yes, we got on the clock, but given that we were probably on it for only a few seconds, I think its' safe to say the only thing holding it up was whether or not Williams would be available.
