Throwing out Bridgewater's stats with Carolina compared to Darnold's is a bit rich too. Teddy was 4-11 and Sam was 8-9 as starting Panther QBs. Carolina has been a sh*t team for the last 8 years.

Really? I beg to differ at this point in their NFL careers.

This is Darnold's 7th year in the league. He is what he is at this point. Darnold had his chances to perform well, and put on a 'show', & he failed miserably. We have seen this movie before, it's awful.

At least McCarthy is a novelty that is interesting.

Thanks for telling me. So that is definitely a fair and relevant comparison. That’s why I keeping expectations down some. With a better situation he might can get from poor to average. To jump him from poor to good though takes a leap of faith I am not willing to expect.

I hope so and there is a chance, but not likely. I think it’s far more likely JJ who brings us hope. Counting on KO to get him ready to go.

Drank, McCaffrey got hurt in the 4th (I think) game of Sam's first season in Carolina.

And Sam never got him back as he was out for the season the rest of that year and the following year was traded later (while Sam was out with an injury suffered in Preseason).

Sam had CMC for just 3 full games. In those 3 games, they went 3-0.

After his injury, the wheels came off.

It kind of HELPS having someone like him in the lineup.

This is the same thing with JJ (Jefferson). Him being in the lineup makes EVERYONE better.

And the QB benefits from his presence whether as an option to throw to or as a very effective Decoy drawing double-teams.

FYI.

Even with CMC, Teddy's panthers team went 0-2 just before CMC got injured whereas Sam with CMC went 3-0.

Just want to throw that out there for accuracy, you know?

Now I'm not going to sit here and say Sam turns into an All-Pro but saying he'll go from Poor to Average when he hasn't been Poor since his first season with Carolina is just absurd.

Especially since he had his best stretch of his career (4-2) that 2nd season and almost dragged a dead-in-the-water team to the playoffs as a result.

Add the solid showing he had in the first half with the Niners (when all the starters were in, before they sat in the 2nd) where he had 4 scoring drives(3 TDs, 1 missed FG), and that is evidence he is no longer "Poor" in performance.

If you want to say Average to Above-average? Sure, I'll buy that.

This team though has the ability to make him even more than that.

We'll just have to wait and see when the games start counting.
