Mond's complete and total failure is a great example of what my article about - a bust of a player in a less QB-friendly regime gets a chance with O'Connell and he still sucks. Because the vast majority of the time, a bust QB is always going to suck no matter who his coaches are. Which is why nothing with him changed when he got a year to be Cleveland's #3 QB.

Probably, some QB's aren't going to succeed even if they have Bill Walsh coaching them, but my overall point is it would be more encouraging to have a HC who could squeeze a little more out of these QB's than one where the QB was the exact same as he was everywhere he's been, and KOC has arguably never done that with any QB he's touched.

He did looked prepared for the Falcons game, though. The entire team didn't look ready for that Packers game including the defense...

His sample size was way too small to suggest he looked prepared. He got really lucky on the busted play to Mattison, other than that he really didn't do anything special. Maybe he felt a lot more pressure in the Packers game with playoff implications on the line and being in front of the home crowd, division rival etc, but that wouldn't be a good sign either. Not good under pressure. And he did look like he was sh*tting himself the entire time he was out there. KOC failed to quiet his mind.

Yup my bad. I still wouldn't label third round guys busts because most of them would qualify. Rick Spielman's thirds practically define the term if you go that route. Of course the top of the third is almost the back of the second, so maybe Mond qualifies.

Doubt he's anything special, but I AM intrigued by what KO and company can do with him. Let's hope he does well enough that McCarthy can take his time, especially because that's what KAM and KO want.

I honestly haven’t looked at the career trajectory of Darnold but after going through it today we better hope Jmac is ready early. He had a LOT of injuries and threw a LOT of interceptions.

I give the fan base maybe 3 games to turn on him unless the defense is winning the games.

Just last year people were saying how Josh Dobbs was a sleeper because he never had a talented offense. Sounds good on paper but history has shown us why changing teams won’t change most QBs from being terrible

If not bust you can show nuff just say sorry. That is sufficient for Mond. Sorry is something nobody can question about his game. Bust might be a lot since it was round 3 but sorry and not worth the pick is appropriate. We would have been no different if we gave the pick away than to pick him. He can’t even be somebody 3rd guy. Yet people ask Rick QB opinion on draft prospects 🤣

Generally I agree with you but there are exceptions. Keenum came out the Wood works and had a good year.

I recommend lower expectations due to what we know but I have seen far less talent have a decent year. As far as a bridge I don’t have no issue with getting Sam. JJ clearly the future though.

and numerous former Chiefs have spoken out saying Mahomes could have played day one. Sitting a young QB can't hurt but it's not a requirement either
