They start 8-1 with a lot of luck and obviously, guys just running on the feelings and adrenaline from getting the Mike Zimmer monkey off their backs and having good guy buddy buddy KOC in the driver's seat. Then Dallas comes to town and waxes their asses 40-3 and reality returns. 5-4 after the hot start and then the crap start to 2023. They turned back into a pumpkin, heck even the 5-4 was flukey if they didn't make the miracle comback against Indy and maybe miss that kick against the Giants and then lose. They also got destroyed by the Packers during the back half of that season. It just wasn't a very good team but they played way over their heads for the first couple of months, making things look a lot better than they actually were.
For sh*ts and giggles I looked this up.....the 2008 Carolina Panthers started 7-2. They won 12 of 16 games and the NFC South Division in the process. The Buccaneers come to town and wax their asses 27-3. Sound familiar? Unlike the Cowboys though, who were a competitive playoff team in 2021-22-23, the Buccaneers in 2008 failed to make the playoffs. The 9-7 Arizona Cardinals smoked the Panthers in the playoffs.
This sh*t happens more than some of you like to admit and that was just one example. Tell me this, do you think Panther fans misinterpretated that 2008 season? Were they being disingenuous or ignorant?
