Cousins was playing extremely well before going on IR last season.

For most any other player, I would agree with you, but historically Cousins has always signed shorter deals with a high level of guarantees without the fake back end money. It will be interesting to see what this deal is.
Yes, but we don't know how much the cap hit in 2024 is just yet so hard to determine if it will be smart to get Hunter as well.
None of the QB's in this draft would produce any better than Cousins.....for the next three seasons.

Opponents can't just stuff the box assuming run anymore, which will open things up big time for Tyler and Bijan.
Get us another pass catcher (or two) and the offense could be seriously dangerous...finally.

I think you might be right but at least we won't be an absolute sh*t show which at this point is a step in the right direction and looking at the contract numbers it doesn't bother me near as bad. This deal is not as bad as some are making this out to be. Also - guys - I wanted to wait to post this and Im sure some of the other guys will post as well, but these posts about Kirk having this super team around him is BS I have been reading in the anti Kirk posts - Vikings def was bottom 5 for 20, 21, 22 as far as yards and avg PPG. They broke the record for yards as well, Kirk has been playing in a very similar situation as both Matts had in Det and Atl.

honestly I wouldnt have gone cousins just because I don't think he's all that great, but the deal itself is actually really well structured and it is a Band-Aid and at this point I just don't want to look like complete fools every sunday. please go get the best defensive end in the first round and the best cornerback in the second. I like the signing. It is a very safe signing. The money is going rate for a solid veteran QB. This removes any pressure to trade up for a QB and we can FINALLY draft an impact EDGE for once in the first round.

I like Detroit but still don't trust them, Green Bay is a question mark so is the 49ers I think. I just can't wrap my head around giving a 35 year old QB coming off an achilles injury this kind of contract. It feels like we are right back in the MR2 situation an aging QB with a huge cap number. Hopefully his wheels don't fall on in the next 2 years.
