Vikings potentially made fatal flaw with 2025 NFL Draft compensatory picks
This is an interesting part of the entire discussion about trading up for Turner. If they were planning on getting these comp picks in 2025, why did they put themselves in position to potentially lose one?
The Vikings have had a successful offseason in my opinion and have made several great moves and have avoided stepping on landmines (outbidding the Falcons for Cousins, trading multiple 1sts for McCarthy and losing out on Turner), but this is the one obvious mistake they've made so far. Why not wait until after the draft to sign a veteran CB and keep that 2025 3rd rounder? It's not a massive blunder my any means, but it is a mistake worth pointing out.
If the formula has the signing on Shaq Griffin offsetting the loss of Danielle Hunter there is something wrong with the formula.
One of the best players in the league at his position is the equivalent of one of the most meh players in the league at his position?
That's not quite it; technically the Greenard signing is the one that rules out Hunter, whilst Shaq Griffin counts against losing KJ Osborn ($4M). But it is as Uncle explains, it is quantity over quality, so if they would have signed another player over the threshold then the Cousins pick would also be ruled out.
