Seeing as how the NFL Combine is now an annual televised event on the NFL Network (including online at NFL+ and NFL.com), it has its own thread to discuss the results that may affect the 2024 Draft.
Here is the schedule:
Sun-Wed, 2/25 - 2/28: team interviews, media interviews, medical exams (this is when GM's & HC's might give pressers; Kwesi has the past 2 yrs)
Thu, 2/29: DL & LB (3-8PM ET)
Fri, 3/1: DB & TE (3-8PM)
Sat, 3/2: QB, WR & RB (1-8PM ET)
Sun, 3/2: OL, K, P, LS (1-7PM ET)
Basically defense gets the weekday coverage while the offense/ST gets the weekend, except for TE's.
You can find a list of the 321 invites on NFL.com here: link
Some of the biggest "snubs" from this year's Combine:
- Khristian Boyd, DT, Northern Iowa: arguably the biggest "snub" as N. Iowa has had solid NFL prospects recently (Trevor Penning, Spencer Brown, Elerson Smith). Boyd dominated at the East-West Shrine Bowl and proved he belonged in the NFL and could be this year's Kobie Turner (who was snubbed last year and had a solid rookie season with the LAR). We'll have to wait for testing results at his Pro Day.
- Blake Watson, RB, Memphis: really good at the Hula Bowl and then at the East-West Shrine Bowl
- Carter Bradley, QB, South Alabama: had a good Hula Bowl and was invited to Senior Bowl where he was consistent; deserved to be there against the Day 1/Day 2 QB's; son of Colts DC Gus Bradley
- Joshua Cephus, WR, UTSA: highly-productive at UTSA, very athletic and had a solid East-West Shrine Bowl; not sure what happened here as even if the NFL didn't like his Dec 2022 DWI arrest, at least he could have answered questions about it in interviews
- Carson Steele, RB, UCLA: highly-productive at Ball St. and UCLA
- Qwan’tez Stiggers, CB, Toronto Argonauts: CFL player that showed-out at the East-West Shrine Bowl and would have made a good story
- Travis Glover, OT, Georgia St: played in Hula Bowl and was a late call-up to the Senior Bowl where he reportedly looked great. He's 6'6", 338 lbs with 34.5" arms and deserved to test w/ in this very deep OT class. He'll workout with Stiggers at an Atanta-based Pro Day on 3/15.
The Combine is also where GM's meet with agents of players currently on the roster to discuss possible extensions/trades, so expect some "online whispers" about Cousins, Hunter and Jefferson.
This was announced last season, but since it's almost upon us, it's worth bringing up again. The BIG XII Conference will not hold individual Pro Days at their schools (including Texas & Oklahoma as they were part of the BIG XII in this Draft season), and instead will have a "mini-Combine" or Pro Day event that will take place across several days in late March from 3/27 thru 3/30. The reason it will be like a "mini-Combine" is that you'll have offensive skill position players and DB work out on 3/28, with OL/DL/LB working out on 3/30.
The reason the BIG XII did this was to have all teams having their top prospects in one location to help those players and also NFL teams that don't have to spread their scouts/coaches through an entire Pro Day schedule in March/April. The con for certain NFL teams is that you won't be able to have as many 1-on-1 opportunities with so many other teams present at the event.
