I think the majority are finally learning that what many have said for years is true. The wilfs are the main problem. This has been an issue with ownership/management for a while now. We will keep doing the same circles as we have for years with them getting in the way from logical team building (which does include taking risks as opposed to pushing all out for mediocrity). I truly hope they are embarrassed at what is happening, this season I saw more opposing fans than I ever have at our games and many people in my section were selling their tickets which rarely happens. They probably don’t care but that’s exactly why fans need to start focusing all of the negative energy at making sure the wilfs know we are sick of this nonsense. Any non homer looking at this team logically could have said 4 years ago this is what would happen if we kept up the same approach. Halfway through the wilfs specifically made it clear they will demand we stay “super competitive” before even hiring a new regime. That was always going to be the problem.
Kwesi is the face of the decisions being made right now and is the next in line for blame. He hasn’t drafted talent well, hasn’t accumulated assets well, has added to our cap issues in multiple ways, had some really questionable moves (trade back, Davenport) and really hasn’t done too much to improve our future outlook. The best aspect so far is arguably just that he was willing to move on from vets a year later than we should have but still save some cap. I don’t fully blame him for all of this because the direction and mandate set in place before he was hired made it almost guaranteed we would be stuck in mediocrity. He still could have done a better job even with this direction though too.
Koc and the coaching staff are next. I actually think in full context this team has done about as good as the talent level for the most part which I blame much more on the two above. We were projected for 9.5 wins year 1 and 8.5 this year for a reason (and that was before all the crazy bad luck this year). In the end though there have been problems along the way and it sort of seems like things are getting worse not better. Every aspect is lacking adjustments. Even Flores has been a big issue recently now that teams have seemingly figured out how to attack his scheme. Special teams has been an issue. All on top of the big one in KOC also failing to make adjustments to our new situation with backup QBs. The same running issues and conservative calling with the lead as last year. Coach have been out in a tough situation but they also hold some blame and need to make a lot of adjustments themselves this offseason.
At the end of the day the top 2 have been the biggest issues holding this team back. Ownership is responsible for hiring the gm and the direction based on their own statements. I just hope fans finally realize this and start making it uncomfortable for them. Embarrass them. Do everything we can to let them know this fanbase is tired of their nonsense. 4 years later and we are still debating if we should resign Kirk cousins for another push lol. Everyone with a brain could tell in 2020 it just wasn’t going to work and we needed to rebuild this roster. Yet due to ownership here we are again heading into the 5th straight season since that became obvious and we still need to move on and rebuild this roster. Nothing has changed because it’s an ownership/management problem and always has been.
