Are some of you actually gleeful the Lions lost and eagerly predicting their downfall?
Didn't they do exactly what most people think the Vikings should do? The ownership hired a new GM and coach, and let them look at the team's assets which had not generated contention, and let them trade away their best (and best-known) player for a different QB and draft assets. And Super Bowl or not, it worked. They have achieved more than any Vikings team in decades and I don't think their foundation is about to collapse.
Let's stop being spiteful jealous children. The Lions hired a GM who was a scout and knew what he was doing in assessing talent. Our owners hired a guy who worked in the stock market because analytics was a trendy thing they read about somewhere, or they saw MoneyBall on Netflix maybe. They hired a coach because he was young and everyone else was hiring young coaches. They're going to keep our best player even though he's a WR, just like the Lions of old just held onto Calvin Johnson hoping a team would magically grow around him.
Dislike the Lions, Packers, and Bears when they're the next opponent on our schedule. Otherwise, why be so petty? They are the examples to emulate. The enemies of success for the Vikings are right in Winter Park. Or in an office in New Jersey, or maybe a luxury suite in Orlando's soccer stadium.
