Hi all! I welcome you to a project based upon my NFL Super Sim application, the Season Sim. From my website you can simulate the full 2023 NFL season in just a few seconds. Sim as many seasons as you want here, there's no cost and no ads!
Here is one result of the season sim:
This one turned out quite well for the Vikings. You can then hit Sim Playoffs to instantly see how they played out:
Darn, they lost a high-scoring affair against the Eagles. Meanwhile, the Commies had a ridiculously good season and won the Super Bowl. By the way, you can view each game's box score by hitting the View button.
If you're interested in seeing how the Vikings did in a week-by-week basis:
Hey, look at that. They lost to the Bucs and still finished the year 10-6! This consisted of going 6-0 in the division, but the defense got spanked by 50+ points twice and 40+ four times.
Now, your next thought probably is how often the Vikings make the playoffs in this sim, and who wins the Super Bowl the most. Good question! I wrote a Python script that enters my website and runs the season sim a whopping 50 times, and here are the results! (note: this was pre-Rodgers injury)
Woof. The Vikings only win a mediocre 7.5 games per season, good for 8th worst in the NFL. The whole NFC North does not have a team that wins 9+ games a year! Meanwhile, the Eagles and Ravens are crushing it when it comes to Super Bowls and playoff wins, and oddly enough the Steelers are insanely good, but don't win many playoff games. Some other teams that seem better here than in real life are the Saints, Browns, and Falcons. The Bengals are in a similar spot as the Vikings, as you'd expect they'd be winning far more often. It's not like the simulator knows they played like garbage Week 1.
If you're interested in how exactly this works, check this thread out for ask me questions. Or feel free to mess with the Depth Chart or Coach Sliders under the Customize tab, this can influence which teams will play better in the Season Sim. For example, replacing Zach Wilson with Aaron Rodgers on the depth chart impacted the Jets' play in the Season Sim quite a bit.
That's all from me, please give this a try and show me your screenshots!
