Since it is known he is requesting a trade and he isn't exactly an elite talent, I think we could get him for our 3rd round pick (a 4th might do it too, but we don't have one of those). It would also probably require an extension to even make his cap hit work this season. The Vikings can afford him, and he would add a thumper in the middle who can get after the QB, even if his coverage skills are lacking.
Looking at his PFF grades, they do not think he is a good player and his overall grade has been as low as 36.5 and never higher than 51.9 (his rookie season). I don't know how much that PFF grade matters though, since they gave him that 36.5 grade in 2021, while the Bucs picked up his 5th year option after that season. Something that doesn't happen if he is truly one of the worst MLBers in the NFL.
Other stats
2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | |
Sacks | 3 | 9 | 4 | 6 |
Pressures | 13 | 31 | 43 | 32 |
Tackles | 68 | 95 | 90 | 91 |
Stops | 35 | 56 | 46 | 50 |
Yards given up (coverage) | 402 | 761 | 587 | 440 |
For context, Kendricks had 1 sack, 10 pressures, 97 tackles, 41 stops and gave up 600 yards in coverage last season.
Seems like a big upgrade, and on top of that he is still young and relatively injury free. What do you all think? Worth 3rd and decent contract?
