Brady quite literally left the Patriots and immediately won a SB with a different team lol. He is one of the greatest QB's of all time and most of that has to do with how great he is individually at the QB position. He was also in one of the best situations possible, hence the 7 total rings.



20 PPG on defense over 2 years; 18-12-1... So like the other poster was saying Kirk actually hasn't necessarily faired better from a W/L standpoint with better defenses. We actually won a higher percent of games the last two seasons with bad defenses than we did the first two when the defense was top 10. The 2019 year was actually under 19 ppg from the defense.




I think this is definitely one aspect of it. We seem to constantly have long stretches without much movement from the offense in terms of sustaining drives. This has been something that didn't change with the coaches. If you look at the 2019 year I was referencing we had a defense that was holding teams under 19 ppg and held the Saints to 20 in the first playoff game. Then against SF we can't move the ball at all and give up 27 points. If you dig a bit deeper the offense only had one drive more than 8 yards until the very end of the game. The 49ers scores came on a net of 61, 53, 46,44, 7 yards due to turnover and just generally amazing field position due to the offense not moving the ball at all. This definitely will play a part in the equation.

At the end of the day it feels like we will just keep having the Cousins discussions until he is finally gone. We were one game away from the SB before Cousins and have won a single playoff game in the 5 seasons since he became starter. It isn't all on Cousins but he clearly hasn't lived up to the $ or expectations from when he was signed. We had a very good defense the first couple years and he became an issue when it mattered most. The last few seasons defense has become the clear issue and it just makes more sense to rebuild and look to the future at all positions on the roster. It's no different at QB, especially when the one we have is likely to be declining very soon and couldn't get it done when he was surrounded by better defenses anyways. We have set ourselves up to walk away next season like we have been doing with other vets. Hopefully the draft has a lot of QB talent and this staff can get someone they really like to build around moving forward.

I am not quite sure I understand, better QB compared to who? The only other person mentioned by me in that post was Brady and it can't be that lol. 

If you mean Cousins was a better QB last year than early on here I would agree though. He was way more impressive in the RS last year to me than any other point in time as a Viking. If we had Buffalo Cousins against the 49ers in 2019 I think we might win that game. It was short lived given what we saw on 4th and 8 but Kirko Chainz briefly was a version of Cousins people had been waiting for. He lifted us above the talent level last season before playoffs. 

That is team TOP and doesn't tell us whether the offense or defense was the problem.  Problem not necessarily being the correct word either, since a defense or offense not being on the field for long isn't always a good/bad thing.  

I posted the TOP for the past two seasons for the offense and it resulted in more possessions for the defense and offense leading to more yards and points scored/given up.  That is a cold hard fact.  That means when you use PPG, Cousins will always have an advantage because he has more opportunities per game, but it also means his defenses will be disadvantaged because they will have more opportunities to give up more points and yards.  Another cold hard fact.  

Just three years ago it was that Kirk is a “.500 QB and his record shows he can’t win more games”

Then he was a “gravitational pull towards.500”

Then he couldn’t win the prime time games, come from behind or lead the team to win.

Now he can’t play at this level forever

He could win a SB and the same people would complain he only won 1.

He could walk on water and they would say it’s because he can’t swim.

Of course all teams have stretches lol. Not every team goes most of the game with one single drive over 8 yards like was pointed out though. Not many struggle so bad to score in the third quarter that articles are written to analyze what is going wrong like last year. I think it was something like 20 points in the third through the first 8 games? I would have to look it up but those are the types of issues I am talking about. I believe there were some threads here made about it too. It’s something many people watching the team have easily caught on to and written about as an issue.

We don’t have a very good qb history and none of those guys took as big of cap hits as cousins has taken. So while I agree I am not sure that really means much and definitely doesn’t change what I was saying. Some can want to keep him, that always happens with players on a team that fans love. It just isn’t likely to lead this team where many want it to go imo. That’s been the issue for a while is the level of play compared to what has been paid and where the rest of the roster was at. It’s time to move on and rebuild across the board, you often don’t have better players ready when you let guys go (smith/Kendrick’s/Tomlinson/theilan). You simply realize it’s time to move on from that aging vet and rebuild the roster like we have started doing. You can use the draft and get a replacement high like we did with Addison. Rebuilding the roster for the future should be the priority imo and we have set ourselves up to do that after the season (or resign cousins if the team makes a legitimate run).




Well you won’t see any of that from me or be able to quote it. However I will note until last season a lot of those generalizations had some truth/facts behind them in terms of record and big games. I think some of it has been overboard and unfair though, to me he’s been an above average qb just a bit overpaid. I just never thought he would lift that roster to the levels predicted and since the defense fell off it’s been time to rebuild imo.

If he won a SB fans would go crazy lol. There might be like 5 people complaining but I think basically 99% of fans would be ready to put him in the ring. There seems to be a weird perception that a bunch of fans hate cousins but I just don’t get that and no one ever backs it up. Often I see people responding to extreme homerism regarding cousins and it gets called hate but very few posters seems to just come on to bash the guy non stop. He seems like a pretty good guy overall so I don’t get this idea many fans just want to hate him or whatever no matter what he does. It’s more about what is best for this franchise and there are a fair amount of fans that don’t think Kirk is the answer for us.
