Extend Cousins or ... ?

Brady would have been nothing on any other team except the Pats.   Show me a team who has held the other team to an average 19 ppg or less on defense for 20 years.  Only one has done it. The Pats.  Well, yes and no.  The Niners did it for 17 years.  1981 - 1998 (Montana and Young. 16.9 ppg on average. ) Just think, if you could hold the other teams to 19 ppg or less for 18 years, you could win,  3 or 4 Super Bowls.    Wait, I know someone else who did it!   Bud Grant, 1968 to 1983. 16.5 ppg.  See, with the Vikings in the 70's everyone knows it was the defense.  But when other teams do it, it's the QB that's winning games.    In the 8 years the Vikes went to the Super Bowl, their defense averaged 12.4 ppg.  Now is anyone here going to claim it was Joe Kapp and Fran Tarkington responsible for getting them to the Super Bowls?   So, why do fans sit here and claim it's Brady, Montana and Young?

But wait, there's more!  1960 to 1967.  Green Bay Packers.  14.8 ppg.  5 championships in 8 years.  But I'm sure it was all on Bart Starr.   Starr was drafted in 1956.  From 1956 to 1960 he had a record of 11 wins, 21 losses and 1 tie.  But his defense was giving up 23.1 ppg. After Lombardi came, his record is 69-18-4.  Now did Starr suddenly get good? No, but the defense went from 23.1 ppg to 14.8.  And then Lombardi dies and the Packer fade into oblivion for 23 years including Starr's final years as Packer player.  

Now, I'm not saying these QB are not good QBs.  They are. But on any other team, they wouldn't be winning Super Bowls.  I have said it before, and no one has proven otherwise.  Show me a QB that has won Multiple Super Bowls and I'll show a team with a good defense.  The only exception is the Giants and Eli. But his defense stepped up in the playoffs.  

And to answer your question, "What has Kirk won?"   Tell me this, name another QB whose defense gave up an average of 25 ppg over two years that has a winning record over those two years.  Because so far, I haven't found another.   And what's Kirks win percentage again in game with 19 ppg on defense?  Maybe if we have a defense that would do that for a few years.  Just think, if the Vikings average 19 ppg the last two years that would be another 5-6 wins.  And maybe one or more in the playoffs. 

25 ppg on defense over 2 years.  21-12.  But he sucks.
