Lol that type of stuff is what I focus on most often in my posts when not responding to specific posters quoting me. I would suggest taking your own advice, if that's the important stuff that should be focused on then maybe your posts should reflect that. I have simply responded to what you chose to focus on when quoting me and you chose that direction instead haha.

We are mostly running back the same old team so not sure we will be overly competitive

Mostly running back the same old team? Some of you are making it sound like the 2009 and 2010 teams. Back then they changed a few coaches and players but this year's team has a different GM, coaching staff and many more different players from the 2021 team not to mention a completely different defensive scheme. My guess is we'll have 3/4 new starters on offense and 4-5 different starters on defense. The offseason is still far from over and I can see a move here or there that will change the team even more.

By team I meant roster wise and talent wise we are mostly running it back with the same old. We added Smith but outside of that there hasn't been much other than shuffling role players to fit the new coaches/scheme. I agree though that the offseason is far from over. If we made another larger splash or two in FA that would definitely help us improve more outside of coaching changes (which I think has been overblown as an issue, although I still am excited for the new regime at the same time). Hopefully we knock the draft out of the park as well.

IMO he would have just been an offensive minded Zimmer....right up to wanting a run first play tough D kinda team....
Meanwhile, our skill players on offense all but beg for a more wide open offense.

See, I'm also a businessman, so I view the decisions they make from angles maybe you're not looking- i.e. losing seasons, lose advertisers/sponsors, profits...multiple losing seasons, players you'd rather keep push to leave.

On another forum, I actually said I'd rather trade Kirk, give Mond a shot and/or add a Mariota or another draft pick and see what clicks. But you keep coming at me for accepting decisions they've already made and suggesting it's the decision I would've made, even though I've said otherwise.

Then you go on a...not sure what to call it re the turd train. Of course I'd like a Super Bowl....a handful of them. However neither I nor you make the decisions, we're just along for the ride. But because I choose to attempt to make lemonade with what I may see as lemons, that's....not OK then? I'm just checking.

Did you want a complete purge of the entire roster? I for one wanted the team to replace starters Kirk Cousins, Garrett Bradbury, Bashaud Breeland, Anthony Barr, Michael Pierce, Nick Vigil, MacKensie Alexander. 5 out of 7 ain't bad. The defense is going to look really different in 2022.

I wanted us to focus on improving our future outlook in various ways. One may have been trading some vets (especially Cousins and his contract) but I wouldn't have completely purged the roster necessarily either. A lot of the guys you note have just been replaced by meh/similar pieces though which doesn't do much. Kirk not moving really hurt us cap wise and we have now pushed multiple contracts back in negative ways, added void years etc. as well to make it all work which is actively hurting the future situation as opposed to improving it. If we had replaced holes with major talent that would be one thing but so far only Smith is really a major impact addition for all of it (potentially, we are counting on some luck even here that he returns to form).

Phillips is in to replace cutting Pierce, he's not some massive upgrade. Chandon Sullivan is a meh CB. These aren't very talented players, they are role players/fill in types. I am not mad we got them but they aren't the type that really move the needle much either.

We hurt our future and tripled down to go for a 2 year window (after the first 4 didn't work and left us in a bad spot). We are essentially using the same old route that got the last regime fired when it comes to the actual roster and pushing cap back to do so. There are a lot of expectations now being put on a young/first time HC. I think they had a lot of leeway this offseason but choosing to push cap back and compete to be super competitive means we better be super competitive now. Fans aren't just going to be happy if we wasted another 2 years, this regime might not last without early success now.

Tretter might be a $ issue where he thinks his value is higher than teams or have to do with his injuries last season I am not sure.

I think it's a health issue. Both Tretter and Paradis are good FA centers but they're in their 30s with recent injuries. Bradbury looks to be our center unless a draft pick or UDFA beats him out.

I mean in the sense that I am every year to some extent sure but I don't think just changing schemes makes all those players much better or anything. I agree we need to wait and see on the new guys. It's not like I am saying we don't have anything positive at all to look forward to improvement wise. We just haven't done anything major that would bring a core that hasn't been winning all the way to a top tier contender.

My concern over the cap is with the competitive advantage others have when you waste more on players not there/dead cap. I am not concerned we will be stuck unable to make any moves, I am concerned we don't have the ability to add enough to make us legitimate contenders. We also have an aging core as you mention so yes they will be gone eventually as will their cap. We are just wasting two years giving them more money/pushing it back is the problem.

Yes, every player out there might have a career year. Expecting that isn't very realistic though, I agree we have to wait and see how it plays out overall. Some will likely do better and some worse but we do have baselines on these guys. Based on what they have shown we haven't moved the needle much talent wise.

Winning the super bowl/having those expectations with a core that is older and has already gone downhill (specifically since Kirk) and is part of what just lead to the last regime being fired is a bit ridiculous imo. I think we are setting the coaching staff up for failure if we don't improve talent wise by a drastic amount and still expect us to go from mediocre 12th pick to super bowl level. We will have to see how it plays out just like every year of course though.
