As I debunk Betteridge's law of headlines, the Vikings continue to make everyone scratch their head this offseason, so I can't help but wonder how much of it's because we just had to let Zimmer finish out the season. I remember some of us saying we should probably get a jump on the next regime, and how important that could be down the road **cough** championship mindset **cough*** just to be ahead of everyone else.
Well here we are, doing things backassward, and a lot of it seems to be because we're behind schedule. Like why are we doing all these restructures AFTER the important part of free agency? Is Kwesi bad at negotiating or didn't he have enough time? Was the Cousins extension rushed because we had to be cap compliant? What if we had a GM 2 weeks sooner? Shouldn't all of the in-house stuff, and cap situation be taken care of before free agency so you know how much you have to spend?
I mean it didn't help that we had to interview a bunch of candidates we never intended to hire, to score important social points, and we had to wait to hire O'Connell, which is maybe one other reason we should have hired Harbaugh. Who still makes the most sense if the plan was to win a Super Bowl in the next 2 years, like it clearly seems to be.
The point is, why did they let Zimmer finish out the season knowing he was so toxic? At this point in time does any besides Funky care that Zimmer got to finish things? They're literally blaming him for everything to the point of disrespect, but they respected him enough to let him finish his tantrum. We could have been a week or 2 ahead of where we are now. We could have used that final game to evaluate young talent. Every move putting us behind. None of it makes any sense to me, and it was predictable.
We're not cursed, we're poorly run, and unfortunately the ones running it poorly seem to be more involved than ever before, and that's not going to bode well for us in the near future, if a certain no trade clause hasn't already spoiled that for you. Will they apologize in 2 years for wasting everyone's time with their Zimmer Derangement Syndrome? One meaningless week may in fact cost us 5 years, if the rebuild in 2 years only lasts 3.
Do we have a fire the Wilves thread yet? Because this is all on them this time. I hear Glenn Taylor will be available soon, or what are the Pohlads doing these days?
