I think "under performance" or saying they disappointed is a...misdiagnosis or something. Even in 2019, when they beat weak teams, the Vikings were hitting their maximum level - even some of those games were close. Whenever they ran into a better team, they got steamrolled. That's not under-performing, it's mediocrity. Underperformance is a team that shows it can win against good teams, but then loses to weaker ones. Yes, Vikings have done that as well, but in the Zimmer era they have mostly looked good when they have a weak schedule - that is, they have enough easy opponents to pad their record.

Wait they won in the Superdome against a 13 win team we had much more talent then but weren't talented enough to beat the Chiefs with a back up QB? Or beat a green bay team we shanked like 3 fgs vs?

You're right that Cousins is a bit better than average as a QB... and if his salary was set accordingly, I don't think there would be a complaint. An extra 10M/season back during the 3 years of Cousins' deal would have netted a pretty nice player somewhere to help this team.

That's the issue. He's not producing at a level that he's being paid to produce at. I'm perfectly fine with that solid QB being back next year if he's taking a pretty nice pay cut... and maybe he likes it here and (I highly doubt it), but for Cousins to do what we want him to do, he needs a heck of a lot more protection up front than what he's gotten in his career here, and that includes this season with our improved line play.

Its a week to week league, just like this year you could go back and look at all the games we probably should have won and youll see a team that should probably be in the playoffs as a 6/7 seed. But what does that really matter? Would you consider us a good team? Every year theres a team that gets in the wild card where they either dont belong or its a team you dont want to see because they are likely a lot better than their record. At the end of the day winning the super bowl is a lot of luck involved, there are likely games during that playoff run they couldve shouldve lost. Best you can do is build your team to put yourself in the best position to go on that run and have a legit chance to compete. We didnt have that in 2019 and we dont have that this year even if we won all those close games.

That's literally all I said. But around these parts anything that gives a team with Kirk Cousins anything remotely close to credit must be fought with heavy opposition and random cherry picked stats. Some posters here are just getting tiresome. (Not saying you)

Its really not even about the production, because he probably has that. Our team is just not that good to be paying him elite money. Yeah sure the offense has the talent and with the right coaching could be even better, but our defense is a mess and will be next year as well. There are probably less than 5 QBs who actually deserve elite money and even then no one QB is going to win a SB by themselves you saw that in the SB last year with the Cheifs. Football will always be a team game. You need to build a legit team first and then you can try and go and get that pricey QB, thats what we thought we had in 2018 coming off a NFC ship. Teams like the Broncos and Browns are a Kirk Cousins away from a legit contender. Our cornerstone pieces on defense are all grandpas now we missed that window I dont want to hold on any longer lets build a team a legit team from the trenches up you still have a chance to find that QB along the way.

Case had The offense playing as a team. Everyone one was pitching in.

Not so much with Cousins and Zimmer, has the offense played as a team. And that is a lot of the problem.

Cousins probably is a better QB but he hasn’t come close to Cases 13-3 season.

Keenum is better than Cousins in some areas and worse in others, but these stats are huge behind a weak offensive line, and the Vikings have had a weak offensive line since Spielman was made the GM.

Case Keenum will not cost $45 million against the cap next year either.
