Is the roster complete?

I don't agree with you Jor.. Geno better than any depth DT we have a one year deal doesn't hurt. It doesn't take away from next years moves.

The objective is to win not worry about making sure a guy gets reps. If a guy is out there better then what you have and he fits and you can afford him you pounce.

The goal every year is to win and put together the best full roster possible to give you the best chance to win. That money will be there next year on a 1 year deal, so it doesn't hurt next years cap getting Geno for a year.

This a game of inches Geno would make us that much better and one game can put you in or out the playoffs. Pierce and DT big boys teams may decide to pass on us and gas them. Having a pass rusher will give us more flexibility to combat that approach and keep guys fresh. Watts, and especially Lynch has not proven anything yet. Twyman neither always stack up for camp and let guys prove their worth or get cut. We have to stop just handing guys roster spots make them earn it.

I don't think you should read into Lynch not getting on the field much last year. Because he played DE in NCAA.... made switch inside.... takes time to make a switch like that.

However, this year, he needs to win some snaps. So you're right.... he better show something this year. Geno or not. He needs to come in there and earn some snaps regardless

Good call on possible Carolina trade..... never know..... we do have quite a few bodies on DL..... when time comes for cuts....

If James Lynch and Jalyn Holmes cannot beat out the other guys we have for backup spots, I have serious doubt that any other team will be offering anything for them. Carolina might claim Lynch on waivers.

Both of those guys were college DEs that the Vikings tried to convert to DT...Datone Jones, too. I think it's time to give up on that approach, and maybe they have acknowledged it by drafting Twymann.

True enough...I am partly just mocking Holmes, who was pretty unremarkable last year. But someone may like him still...he probably needs to play on a team emphasizing 3-4.

I figure with Hunter crossing my fingers, Wonnum, Jones, and Robinson are automatics. Even if the rooks struggle they making the roster year one for development being picked RD 3 and 4.

Weatherly is not great, but I think he is better than Holmes. So with those 5 I see no room for him. Going into his last year of his rookie deal he is expendable. I would even say I rather keep Hercules over him and Willekes I liked coming out could be a sleeper. The time has come to move on from Holmes come cut day. Unless he transforms all the sudden year 4. He will be hard pressed to emerge enough to keep.

Jeremiah Sirles nice, that is a good one.. Almost forgot all about Sirles. Yes when the cut down happens teams start to panic. If they had injuries or lack depth they start getting desperate. Dangle a guy you about to cut and they will bite especially a guy who went early to mid rounds and still young. Hughes even fits that description of dangling a guy. Do we think we could have traded him coming off 2 neck injuries and a ACL, missing 3 straight years practically, if he wasn't young and a early pick? 4th round still get's you status too. Isidora was picked rd 5 Dolphins took him and he did nothing for them. I am pretty sure he isn't even on their team still. I guess it doesn't matter which round since Sirles, Easton and others didn't get drafted. It happens a lot. With us having no compensatory picks, look for Rick to try this method to stock our shelves for the 2022 draft. We know he wants 10 picks at least.

Two moves I would like the Vikings to make:

1) Sign another Center.
We only have Bradbury & Cabral listed as true Centers. Mason Cole has played Center but the Vikings list him as an OL, so not sure how they intend to use him, plus he graded out worse than Bradbury last season when used as a Center.

2) Sign Malik Hooker. 
Hooker is a former 1st round pick coming off an achilles tear. He's shown enough when healthy to warrant the Vikings giving him a 1 year prove it deal, and if he can recover successfully and reach the level of play that warranted the high draft pick, then at only 25 years old he could be groomed as an eventual Harrison Smith successor.
