If it was all about the money, he would have taken the two year extension that he was offered that woudl reportedly "make him the highest paid QB in the league". With the Cobb trade happening quickly after Rodgers reported, it seems pretty clear to me that he asked for that move, which is something that wasn't happening before for him in Green Bay.
He probably will ask for a new deal when he is traded over the 2022 offseason, however. So yeah, it's usually about the money.
I could be wrong, and the GM of the Packers might be a complete moron who goes from looking towards the franchise future with the Love pick to going all in on an aging QB who has had one really good season out of the past 4, going all in when he had complete control of the QB for the next 3 seasons and held all the cards, I just don't think Vikings fans are that lucky.
His 2 year extension was more about pushing out money to the future to extend his running GB through 23'. He would have likely been traded after 23' had he taken it.
Rodgers rejected the extension because he doesn't want to be a lame duck QB waiting to be replaced period, he isnt just trying to delay the inevitable by two seasons.
