We are now in a interesting situation at QB especially if Monds turns out in the future. What is the best case scenario playing out to give us the best future?
I never cheer for us to lose and I want a Super Bowl, but do we honestly believe Kirk can get us there? Since I see that unlikely I will give three likely scenarios.
1.We don't make playoffs and go 8-8 and Kirk has a bad year
2.We make a deep run and get to like the NFC Championship, but get destroyed again
3.We make the playoffs have a good year but lose early in playoff.
Now don't misunderstand if Kirk can win the Bowl that would be my true wish. I see it as a pipe dream so the scenario I want to happen is #3 Why you might ask...
If scenario #1 happens obviously it is a huge disappointment so its clear we don't want that ever. Nobody would want Kirk and he would get to play out the last year at 45 million on the cap. It would also waste another year of the advantage Mond would give us to build around him on a rookie deal.
Many would be like what you don't want the deep run no. Because it would give us false hope and they might extend Kirk and the next year or 2 after that fall off after further cripplin of our cap. We would be stuck with him while Mond never gets his shot and we never get a window with a rookie deal QB to load up the team.
#3 would be a great scenario, because we would still have a good season, but they would see that Kirk will never take us all the way. We then would have trade value for Kirk. Saving a ton of money for FA and getting draft capital and a window would open for us. Wide open for 3 yrs until we would have to think about paying Mond.
Again this is all speculation and looking at it if Mond develops into a good player. This thread is the assumption that Mond turns out and what would give us the brightest future. What path would benefit us most thoughts.. What path you truly want assuming Cousins never can get it done and Mond comes in and shows skills and promise.
