I was thinking about this driving home from the gym, let's say Teddy never gets hurt we don't trade our 2017 1st Rd pick and we don't take on Bradford's contract. Let's say we still go 8-8 in 2016, whoever we drafted could be on the 5th year option right now. A guy like Malik Hooker next to Smith would've been nuts the last few years. Bridgewater would've probably improved even if a little instead of stunting his growth by rehabing. Now you take Bradford's 2017 salary of 18 million into consideration, we were deep into the Alshon Jeffrey sweepstakes and imagine if we were able to offer say 2 million more a yr then Philly we could've had him & Diggs out wide with AT in the slot to go along with a rookie Cook in 2017. Now maybe we don't go 13-3 in 2017 but I'm sure we're still a good team and probably still a good team in 2018. Also I don't know if people remember that the Browns did contemplate trading LT Joe Thomas mid season in 2016. Let's say since Rick still has his 2017 1st he decides to go all in and offers our 2nd which means no Delvin Cook but we could've had Kareem Hunt in the 3rd instead of Elf, something tells me Hunt & Murrey would've been solid in 2017 & 2018. We probably pick up Teddy's 5th year option which means more cap flexibility in 2018 because the team probably doesn't offer Cousins a 84 million guaranteed contract.
Now there's a lot of what ifs but you can see that Teddy getting hurt kinda hurt the team more then it helped the future. Like I said it just popped into my head and I thought I would share it.
