Hunter was a major loss, but the organization expended a second round pick to rent what should have been an above-average player to replace him.
So in reality, a championship-caliber franchise would have only experienced two minor setbacks and one serious loss, but a loss made manageable with a costly trade.
If losing Hunter, Barr, and Pierce was really "Game Over" for 2020 in the minds of the Wilfs, then that's just more evidence that they're conceding that the primary (or sole?) purpose of the Vikings franchise is to make them more money.
It also means that despite your idea that 2021 will be 'make or break' for Zimmer, there almost certainly will be significant personnel turnover and injuries next year, like there are almost every year... so there will be an excuse to give Zimmer, Spielman and Co. a pass next year too, and potentially beyond.
Yannick was supposed to replace Griffin not Hunter, yes Pierce was a irreplaceable star for us concidering we dont have another true NT to stop the run. Zimmer likes to run his defense with CB & NT as his two major factors. Barr might be replaced but the guy filling in for him is a FA after the year so maybe Barr will return. To say those 3 being out and a young CB unit hasn't cost us 2-3 games already is blind Zimmer hate or something. If those 3 are here we beat Seattle & Dallas and maybe Tenn too
No, they already knew Hunter was done before the desperation move was made. Pierce isn't a 3 down player like Joseph was. He has no value in collapsing the pocket with penetration. He's a 1 trick pony with very little value that's why the Ravens let him walk.
Barr is and has been a non factor more than not they should have let him walk. If Wilson can replace him it doesn't say much for Barr. Zimmer uses his S and LB to blitz I have no idea what you're even saying about Zimmer needs a NT and CB? Peirce best year didn't even add up to Joseph's worst.
Sorry but the reason we are "young" is some guys wanted out and others weren't performing in this system. There has been more than enough picks going to a few positions and that's what has cost us going forward.
We wouldn't have won any game unless you believe in the unknowns. Maybe if certain things didn't happen to other clubs do to injury we would have lost worse or more than we have. This team sucks and has sucked for years.
During his time as Houston's GM it did not go so well for him but he still drafted quality players.
