They missed out on DE Carl Lawson, DE Trey Hendrickson, CB Shaq Griffin, and G Joe Thuney in 2021 free agency before landing Tomlinson and Peterson - and those were just the guys that they were reportedly in on. And over the 2020 offseason we had plenty of positions of need, but we only signed Pierce. There's no question they missed out on the top line free agents, but it's not like they couldn't spend at all, landing some second tier guys in Pierce, Tomlinson, and Peterson.

The first 3 you mentioned are certainly not all pro top tier talent type players. And for what you gave the other guys you mentioned they could of had Thuney. He is top tier talent... Maybe Thuney, maybe had no interest in playing for us or living in Minnesota... Stuff like that is hard to quantify.

Hendrickson has been good but he really had only 1 good year into free agency. But how does Hendrickson and I don't know say Sam Darnold or some bottom 15 QB make us better than Kirk makes us... The top tier players we signed we're the guys we re-signed when the narrative was we'd never be able to keep... Let alone sign then trade for the draft pick to then draft the arguably the best WR in the league.🤔

Id always rather spend the money on our own guys (even when they falsy claim it will be impossible) because that means we drafted well and let's face it no matter the position free agency is the tax you pay for not drafting that position well. Your rarely gonna get a bargain on primo talent in free agency.

I can say we didn't miss out on any of those guys. Vikings could have signed anyone of them if they truly wanted to come here. Not a cap problem

Carl Lawson signed a 3 year $45M contract.
Trey Hendrickson signed a 4 year $60m contract.
Shaq Griffin signed a 3 year $40M contract.
Joe Thuney signed a 5 year $80M contract.

That's what the market determined those guys were worth. They all signed multi year deals with teams that were in a position to hand out multi year deals near the top of the market.
The Vikings didn't make offers to any of those guys once they relized that other teams could easily out bid them.
The reason teams were able to outbid the Vikings is because those teams had more cap space, yet according to your post the Vikings lack of cap space was not an issue *skeptic*
