UDFA there are a lot more quality players found, and you actually have a better chance of finding good players in UDFA's than in the 6th or 7th round. Which is why you shouldn't trade down into those rounds. Trade up for quality, and get your depth in UDFAs.
But once again the potential gains or losses is minimal here... taking Spielman's approach, you get 7th rounders for chump change, or take another GM's approach and throw more money at UDFAs. I don't think there's much of a difference between the two approaches.
