I find it interesting that the same people who make an entire forum thread on here to post a niche, cherry picked PFF statistic that paints kirk in a positive light are the same ones trying to claim "context matters" and that these stats posted don't show the whole picture. Pretty obvious that kirk truthers will glob onto anything that paints him in a positive light while hating on anything that proves he is bad where it matters.
I guess the moral of the story is that either side can use statistics in their favor, although I am far more inclined to side with the sentiment in this post because it matches up with what my eyes see. We need to see more performances like the saints game, and until we do, that game is the exception to the rule. Prove me wrong, kirk.
Good point. I guess in my eyes, the Vikings haven't had a franchise QB since Culpepper (Favre was an amazing rental). Now, it feels like the Vikings have a QB that has the potential to be that and then some. Sure Kirk has his faults (bad pocket movement, holds onto the ball too long, etc.), but I feel like their is a lot of upside (good accuracy, takes care of the ball for the most part, good arm).
This is fair. Kirk is definitely a better long term option than anyone we have had since Culpepper. That being said, none of my issues with kirk have to do with his physical and technical abilities like bad pocket movement or even holding onto the ball too long. Yes, these are problems, but they are correctable problems and I acknowledge that no QB will ever be totally perfect. It is the intangibles that Kirk seems to lack when the pressure is on. I won't beat a dead horse on this opinion, but I think you get where I am going with this. Decision making, play making, leadership and coming through in the important moments, yada yada yada. Results are what matter, and by results, i don't mean statistics.
You can bang your fist on the table and try to make the case that Andy Dalton is a great QB because he lead the bengals to five straight playoff appearances... only to go 1 and done in every single one of them. Is he great for being so consistent and always giving his team a chance in the tournament, where anything can happen? Or is he a failure for losing every single time the season is on the line? I guess it can be a bit of a rorschach test and tells a lot more about the person giving their opinion and what they consider to be a great QB.
