Watching Goff predictably struggle against the Pats top 10 pass defense last night, I thought I would check in on how our QB and was surprised to see that we have only played one top 10 pass defense this year.
Against the Colts, the only top ten pass defense we have played, Cousins offense scored 11 points, and had a passer rating of 15.9, throwing 3 picks to 0 TDs and a YPA of 4.35.
As of this moment, the only other game the Vikings are scheduled to play against a top 10 pass defense is the Saints and the Vikings have played 7 of the worst 10 pass defenses this year, including all of the bottom 3 pass defenses.
Earlier in this thread I commented about Goff's SB season and how easy it was for him as a QB, and how that ended up getting him a huge contract he probably didn't deserve. The defenses we are facing this year are even more favorable than the ones Goff faced in 2018.
I will give Kirk credit for beating up a good Bears pass defense - their numbers have decreased as of late, but Kirk made some great plays in a place where Vikings offense usually goes to die, on a MNF game. He's made some baby steps (winning a playoff game, winning in MNF, actually making a comeback for once), but it's time Mr. $33M takes some big man steps forward.
