Dillon fits a different mold then Jones and Williams, Lafluer wanted his Derrick Henry for their run heavy O I guess. I agree, it was a surprising pick, but I dont think they are planning to move away from Jones, rather they want him and Dillon as a duo.

Because good organizations are not shortsighted, especially in regards to the QB position. QBs dont grow on trees, if you have one you like, you get him before you get caught in no mans land where you have to limit yourself to whatever comes your way at that position.

Taking Love hurts Rodgers chances the same way taking Rodgers hurt Favre's chances. 15+ years of SB contention is more likely to bring you a SB win then trying to maximize a short window. Not to mention, many first round picks are either busts or not immediate contributors anyway.

It's almost as if people dont remember that Rodgers himself was drafted to nearly the same situation.

The Packers clearly have a plan, obviously not everyone agrees with it or thinks it's a very good plan but the 49ers and Titans both overachieved by focusing on a strong running game and defense. Personally, with Rodgers on my team, I'd rather build like the Chiefs and find speed / weapons but this has Matt LaFleur written all over it.

What puzzles me though is that Love is not really a "take care of the football and make smart decisions" kind of QB that typically goes along with the "run the ball and play defense" strategy. I'm not sure he ever will be.

Well Rick picked the great white hope and that was even more of a brain teaser. Moving up to boot. How about his 3 great 1st rd picks when none are still here and none had great value for more than a few years.

Think about Rick's drafts how many head scratchers has he had? Just so you know a crap load.

How do you know Rick did anything to help the OL or WR groups? He dipped his toe once again. Care to count how many CB and DE he has taken?

Just because he drafted 1 OT that many see as a boom or bust pick and may be a RT at best they need a lot to work out or it could be another huge misstep. I would say our G position was a much bigger need and he passed over many G that would have fit. So is a Rick just as guilty as GB?

Now WR they got what they hope can be a dominant outside receiver but yet again that isn't a given. Like I said before he wasn't even the best WR at LSU and they moved JJ inside. It may not mean much or it could mean he's better suited in the slot. So does Adam not get to play slot and only outside now?

I know many fans think once you get a guy you can write his name down he's going to be a sure thing.

Now do we really have to break down the issues Rick has had at QB draft or FA?

Then you have the square peg round hole debate that so many have brought up over the years and it's still rings loud.

The way I approach any draft pick or FA is let them prove it first and foremost on the field.

The facts are that most QBs drafted in the first round never amount to anything. The Chiefs got extremely lucky with Mahomes. Nobody knew he would be this good. If they did, he would have been picked at picks one or two. The Packers got extremely lucky with Rodgers. Favre had been playing a lot of games with the team threatening retirement, and Rodgers had an epic slide in the draft. I know it's fun for some to focus on those two isolated data points, but they're ignoring decades of examples suggesting that this will be an epic fail. They bought an expensive lottery ticket (magic beans) while ignoring the bread and butter that they really needed to acquire. Like most here, I'm LMFAO and look forward to the entertainment that is sure to follow. We need Barr to break Aaron again this year so that we can watch the Love experiment in action.
