Exactly. There's no way Rodgers is going to groom his replacement, nor should he be expected to, and I won't view him as a bad teammate because of it. The Packers pretty much screwed him and themselves with this draft and I love it xD.

Also you touched upon the contract situation with Love that not many seem to be talking about. Unless the Packers force Rodgers out sooner than expected, they're not going to get to take advantage of Loves rookie contract like a lot of other teams are trying to do these days.

It makes total sense if that is who they deemed better. I know many here are use to how Rick works. Not all GMs get shoehorned in like he does just to pick the next position of need available. Rick needs a position say WR even if there is a run he takes the next one on his board and forgets about better players say a OT. It's a trend that is obvious if you really study what he has done in the past.

It's also why he is scared to pull the trigger on certian positions. He knows his limits and just wont pull the trigger because of past failures.

The TE Deguare also carried a 5th round grade as a backup/special teams player and they took him in the 3rd round. You want to draft a TE at that spot to help Rodgers then why pass on the John Mackey award winner Harrison Bryant? He had double the stats (64/1004/7)of Deguare and was on the board for the taking.
It’s surprising to me I had to do the research for you.

Love will start at the earliest, 2022. If that. If they do wait longer, they can extend Love at a discount price for a franchise QB and hope he works out. (Similar to when they extended Rodgers during the 08 season to what ended up becoming a bargain of a four season contract) anything they paid for Love will seem minimal should he turn into a franchise QB, and they seem to be following the 08 Aaron Rodgers blueprint insofar as to his contract negotiations.

GB apparently tried to move up in the second for Shenault and Hamler. They weren't able to get a deal done though.

Speak for yourself, I had Dillon much higher then that, and so did many draftniks, he was just a late riser. Not that media draft grades actually mean anything anyway.

Dillon literally obliterated loaded boxes in college, and has good receiving capabilities that simply weren't utilized in Boston College's O. Dude also runs a 4.51 at 250 lbs.

Granted, I did think the TE they took was a strange pick, and not who I would have taken, I still see the reasoning, he is supposed to be their Kyle Juszchek type, I wouldnt draft that in the third but it's not a complete head scratcher, Lafluer is a part of that McVay/Shanahan coaching tree that utilizes in line TEs and FB hybrids.

But why would they draft a HB in the second round when they already have Aaron Jones and a capable backup in Jamaal Williams? We already know that drafting HBs early is a bad use of draft capital (Jones is a fine example of this)!

Why are the Packers planning to move on from Rodgers & Jones despite going 13-3 and coming short within a game of the Super Bowl? It seems to me that they're lowering their chances of getting a second Super Bowl with Rodgers...
