If we desperately need interior push, why are you putting Kinlaw or Davis at the 5?
The moves you would do in a heartbeat leaves the team one dimensional on O. Diggs being gone leaves Thielen doubled. That leaves Bisi, who is better suited for WR4 or Coleman, coming off an injury and a 43.9% catch rate as the #2.
Putting Peart at LT next to another rookie in a new position probably ends with Cousins on IR by October. Now we choose between Hurts and Jake Browning to run the O. Since we can't pass, Mattison and Boone are facing defenses daring the O to run.
Other than bringing back Les Steckle, I think we'd be just within sniffing distance of Lawrence or Fields in 2021.
You're welcome to make your own plan. The financial difficulties of this team mean a few things: we're going to lose several CBs and/or a safety. We will have limited finances to upgrade our OL. We'll likely be cutting our best DT. We already lost our RE. And that's just to get under the salary cap. That's without adding anyone to fill those losses. It's easy to criticize, perhaps you should try your own plan.
I have made no bones that the offense is worse off. There will have to be tradeoffs to get younger, get value, and have a chance to retool. There is nowhere this team can be aggressive without losing established veterans. I think if you played out this experiment on your own you might have more perspective on the problems we face.
