Did you see the playoffs? How many teams were run heavy? Us? Baltimore? 49ers? Seattle? Titans? Buffalo? Houston? Philly? These teams were rushing for 120 yards plus. That's basically the top ten rushing teams.

Let's set aside that Kinlaw is unlikely to last to #19. And let's set aside whether Davis is worthy of a two. With limited draft capital, why draft two guys capable of doing the same thing? Davis was tepid at best rushing the passer. Maybe Dre turns that around. While either is playing the 5, are you sitting Odenigbo who collected 7 sacks last year in limited snaps? 

My problem is your tact in discussing what is, admittedly, for fun. 

This team is going to have to cut veterans, or heavily restructure them, and rely on rookies or second year players to improve.  I just embraced that.

The Vikings are probably going to have to have Odenigbho starting

My plan has us swapping Rhodes and Waynes for Fuller and Gladney. 

Upgrading our offensive line will almost certainly involve young players. 

We simply have no other option given our finances. 

I liked Johnson when we drafted him....but has he shown any ability to be that guy?

My problem is your tact in discussing what is, admittedly, for fun.  (Hence: "musings")  Of course this isn't going to happen.  We're a bunch of Vikings fans having a conversation here.  Nowhere did I post "this is my 100% prediction" or anything even remotely like that.  Treating it like it was my intent has your approach off base from the get-go.

You are welcome to do your own and see the crunch this team is facing.  This team is going to have to cut veterans, or heavily restructure them, and rely on rookies or second year players to improve.  I just embraced that.

Now I'm going to dig in a little bit less politely on some of your stuff since my second attempt with you resulted in more of your approach: Yes the Cheifs are spending more on WR.  Almost all of that is devoted to Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill.  Guess how many of them will be a Chief next year?  Right.  So that snide point is not well researched on your part.  And that's to say nothing about the difference in their QB allocation. 

The Vikings are probably going to have to have Odenigbho starting regardless of your plan.  What I did is recognize that adding two studs in the middle of the DL takes the pressure off of him to be Griffin.  Having four guys, instead of two, that demand attention is better for everyone.  Including the corners.

Speaking of which....the Vikings are going to have to have a major change at CB regardless of your plan. My plan has us swapping Rhodes and Waynes for Fuller and Gladney.  Everything else is basically equal.  Given our situation at CB and the money we have available, I'd challenge you to devise a better situation.  Hence why I was willing to invest so much up front on the defense

Upgrading our offensive line will almost certainly involve young players.  Somewhere we're going to have to cut an established vet - be it Harris or Linval or Rhodes or others- and replace them with rookies.  We simply have no other option given our finances.  I'm sympathetic to the idea of starting a rookie safety, but doing that with a huge overhaul in the CB group is scary too.
