Big takeaway:

Even after cutting 3 aging vets, trading both Cook and Digga, and restructures for both Smith and Kendricks...... we still only had enough $ (after re-signing our own FAs) to sign Corey Coleman and Kendall Fuller.

Now you could argue that trading both of them (if even one) will not happen, so one of them will end up having a cap hit too.....

So point being..... too many on here are unrealistic about our ability to be a player in this year's free agency. Now that I've seen you lay out the #s, it makes me believe even more strongly that's the case....

not necessarily. In his scenario we are pumping about 30 mil back into the secondary. Could easily split that between the oline and cb/safety spot

While its cool to do these fantasy things, there is no chance we are going to trade cook and diggs lol I agree we should not pay Cook but I would bet the farm they are going to, they like keeping "there guys"

Winning teams arent built through free agency, you see it year after year. While its cool to get those shiny new toys in March, it never usually brings success to the team. So im not really worried about having the money for free agents. 2nd/3rd tier guys are fine to sign, but other than that teams are built through the draft.

I think a Rhodes, Griff (already voided), Joseph, and Rieff (restructure I think they should keep) are the most realistic and moves that we should make. Watts looks promising, still have Holmes, Jaleel Johnson, Ifeadi def deserves a shot full time and I think he could handle it. We need to draft the Sharif Floyd we always wanted, its finally time to get that DT Im thinking Round 1. Corner is going to be the question. We need at least one of Waynes or Mac back and I would be shocked if one of them isnt at least. Holton Hill or Boyd may need to step up, and Hughes really really needs to be the guy we thought we were getting. At the end of the day it really cant be any worse at CB than it was last season and we still managed through it and it wasnt a factor as to why we lost. This is probably the biggest offseason and possible biggest changes in a while, def since Zim got here. It will be an interesting spring thats for sure I guess thats what keeps us coming back.

We just went 0-4 against GB and Chicago. We couldn’t score more than 20 points against either. But now you’ve traded Diggs, who scored 2/3 of our TD’s against GB this year. He also torched Chicago for 100+ yards as well. What do those games look like without him?

I think one would REALLY have to believe in Cousins to see these moves made.

THEY DO BELIEVE IN COUSINS THAT MUCH. Otherwise next year is a waste. I am for trading diggs, but not with aim of superbowl next year. Even with diggs, i am not convinced that a superbowl is a reality to believe in.

I'm more in the blow it up camp (and I know that's not happening, but I think it's the right answer)… This is a pretty good plan though if the goal is to be reasonably competitive for 2020. They are going to have some really tough choices to make. I'd argue though that in FA they should be targeting a left guard. You have Baisdasz in there, but not in the signings. I don't know much about that market, but if he's solidly above average, then I like it.

That's the scary thing. That offseason plan actually looks pretty realistic based on what our actual available moves are. Yeah you could moves some things around and change a few things about what he wanted to do with his offseason plan, but reality is this team is going to be left with some major holes going into next year.

If you're trading away Diggs, let alone adding in Cook, the offense is going to be worse. Losing all of those players on D, it's going to take a step back.

Honestly I'm at a point now where if they're honestly considering trading Diggs, especially with where our cap is at, blow the thing up. This roster is about ready for a reset. We need a true franchise QB.

i dont know that i want to blow it up, but i do want to see a shift in philosophy on defense, in personnel. Not just a change in coaches and gm either. The ppe, floyd peters stuff neefs to die in minnesota.

Rice, harvin, peterson, huge offensive line, defensive line was on average much bigger, secondary had size and play making abilities.

Yo SK! Agreed with everything here. The moves in Lev’s plan here are pretty realistic considering future goals and overall team philosophy. I would love to keep Diggs and Cook obviously but if this proposed return were available? I’d take the picks and run. Blow the whole thing up and honestly consider life after Cousins/Spielman.

What's his cap hit this season?

And we are having to cut or lose at least 4 starters this offseason. Tell me if this isn't true. Whether we want to or not is a different issue. The fact is, we have to in order to get under cap/re-sign the handful of our own FAs we want to re-sign/and sign our rookies.

Yeah a general theme these various offseason plans share is desperately trimming cap, which to be fair is what we need. But it all started with that Cousins deal + Rick methodically restructuring our vets to push the cap back. We have to deal with that now.

As far as Diggs, his upcoming cap hits are just as bad as Thielen’s. This upcoming WR class is pretty damn impressive and I bet we are looking at it very closely.
