I feel this deserves its own thread.
I mentioned this back in the game thread about a fan on /r/minnesotavikings saying that he respected the Saints punter after he decided to keep on playing after injuring his ribs on the first punt of the game. That same punter was also one of the 8 final saints players (and the first out of the tunnel) for the final extra point that was just a kneel down as a formality.
Anyways said redditor decided as a sign of respect to make a donation to Morsteads charity .
Morstead learned of this through his foundations director on his way back that they started receiving a flood of donations after the game. He originally thought it was due to the exposure from being in the nationally televised game. They soon realized that all the donations were in small amounts and coming from Minnesota addresses. They eventually reached out to give a personal thanks to the reddit community and find out who started it. They eventually recorded a thank you video to announce that 100% of all the donations through the end of the week would go to the Children's Minnesota Child Life Program. At the time of that video they had raised just over $3,600.
Then he made an additional promise this morning along with the video, that if they raised over $100,000, he would fly back to Minneapolis and personally hand write and deliver the check in person.
Well just over an hour ago roughly they hit that mark and as of the writing of this post they are now sitting at $114,953 from 2762 donors.
I swear Minnesota has the best fans and this just makes me proud.
