For me, it all comes down to the secondary. Drew Brees truly sliced and diced the Panthers into silver and blue little bits, this is true. However, to say the Vikings secondary is better than Carolina's is the equivalent of saying Barack Obama was slightly more stable than Donald Trump. The Vikings secondary is leaps and bounds better than Carolina's.
I think you could make a legitimate argument that Mackensie Alexander or Terence Newman, whichever you consider to be the Vikings FOURTH CB, is better than James Bradberry...who is laughably Carolina's best. That depth, and strength across the board is what will allow the Vikings to neutralize the Saints.
Who do you want on Alvin Kamara? Well, that's a question Mike Zimmer can answer any way is little heart desires. You want to be physical with him, and have Anthony Barr or Andrew Sendejo bang him? You can do that. You want to go with speed and have MacKensie Alexander or Trae Waynes take him on? Fine. Because Mike Thomas won't be a factor against Xavier Rhodes. Brandon Coleman won't be running open nearly as much as he did yesterday. Willie Snead? Josh Hill? Whatever.
All the talk about how many weapons Drew Brees has sounds great when 96 year old Thomas Davis chasing Josh Hill...or 5'9" Captain Munnerlyn trying to man up 6'6" Brandon Coleman. It's different when Trae Waynes at 6'1" with 4.3 speed is lining up against Coleman, while Newman is lined up against Snead, and the speed of Kendricks and Barr can easily handle Hill.
It's going to be a different story Sunday afternoon for Drew Brees and the Saints. They will have to get Ingram and Kamara going on the ground, and when Linval, Everson, et. al. slow them down and the Saints have to pass to win? Sorry Drew. He may move the Saints into field goal range a few times, but he won't get them in the end zone.
I see a repeat of Week 1 for the most part. Vikes 27, Saints 16.
