Lets get this party started.
The obvious one being, no post edits after a game or games are completed.
Should we allow guest picks in emergency situations? I say yes. If someone misses a week they tend to drop out.
When it comes to Thursday night games, when should picks be in? If you pick a Thursday night game, should all 4 of your picks be made Thursday, or is it ok to let someone just pick the Thursday game and then their other 3 picks later? I prefer the latter as long as the later picks are made in a separate post because we can't have any post edits after the Thursday game is completed.
The upset rule needs to be modified. What do we do? The upset fails too often. 1 proposal is to have a "NO UPSET" pick, meaning if you think all of the upset picks will lose that week, you can say NO UPSET, and then you get the 3 points if all the upset picks lose. We can also expand the definition of what an upset means. We can say any team that's an underdog by 3 or more points (or whatever).
How bout bringing back the Jack Del Rio Balls of Steel pick? I suggest a team has to be at least a 10 point underdog to qualify and there can only be 1 BoS pick per week. In the event 2 teams are 10+ point underdogs, then we'd go with the largest spread. This would mean some weeks there might not be a BoS.
And because this is football and we like to be clever, do we change the game to pick-6 like many want? Not only does it make sense from a football stand point, but it would help cut down on all the weekly ties. And if so, we'll have to figure out what kinds of additional picks we need to add. 2 more random picks? A survivor pick (team you haven't picked yet)? Then the points grow the more consecutive you get correct. Like 1 point in week 1, then if you get that right then your week 2 would be worth 1.1 points, then 1.2, all the way up to 2.6 by week 17 if you get them all right. If your survivor loses then you start over at 1 the next week. Then maybe a ranked pick? For example, you can pick any team you want, but you're awarded points based on how that team is ranked in the power rankings. If you pick Pittsburgh and they win, you only gain 0.1 points, but if you pick Cleveland it's 3.2 points (rank divided by 10). That would take care of those pesky ties haha. We don't want to make the game too complicated but a little spice doesn't hurt.
Another proposed rule change, should you lose points if you get your lock wrong? I vote yes. 1 if you get it right, -1 if you get it wrong, 0 if it's a tie.
How bout make up picks? If someone misses a week, allow them some bonus picks the following week to encourage them to stay in it? If we go with the pick 6, I'd say something like 3 additional picks maybe? We need to do something about the DNP's that tend to grow as the season goes on.
Oh man we're really going to put the ol spreadsheet to the test with that haha, but she likes a challenge.
So what did I miss, what else do we need to talk about, or what other ideas can we come up with?
