It occurred to me watching Monday night football how spoiled we have become being able to watch any game we want. Back when I first started watching football we at most, had the chance to see 2 games a week. One, the local channel always had the "local" team on. Foe me, that was the Packers. Then there was the late game. 4 o'clock. So, two games a week. So we would wait until the news came on, sit through the news and weather waiting for sports. So you might get a glimpse of your team on the highlights.
Then in 1970 they brought in Monday night football. WOW!. Three games a week. and you had a better chance of seeing you team play if it wasn't the local team. And they showed highlights of the previous days games.
Then with the advent of cable, in 2006 we got Thursday night football. Now we got to see 5 games a week. About 30% of the games played each week. But, you still had to hope to see your team. We would wait for each week's TV schedule to see what games would be shown.
And now. With the internet we can stream whatever game we want to watch. I have seen more Vikings games in the last 8 years than all the previous 50 years I've been following them. I'm sure of it.
So, thank technology for you being able to never miss a game. Because what we have today is fantastic to what we had 50 years ago.
