It Is Worse Than You Think

I find it ironic that this was one of the main concerns about old man Penix ... his knees. Draft the younger guy who has never had surgery, they said. I guess you never know.

Everyone said he'd probably sit this year anyway, but in that scenario he would at least get to practice and develop. Sitting that long isn't going to do him much good, and essentially 20% of his rookie scale contract is already wasted. Next year will be his rookie year, so what vet are we going to have to sign next year? Because unlike 2024, 2025 was supposed to be when we started to make a run. But hey, at least we don't have to talk about Mr. Tuesday anymore.

Not to mention Atlanta has mysteriously refused to play Penix the past two preseason games. Some think it's because he secretly has an injury or Kirk actually isn't ready and Penix will start. I still don't get why if they were sold on a QB it wasn't McCarthy, who would have made way more sense to sit behind Kirk.

Listening to this, it made me feel good to not be in this situation anymore. With JJM, we have a little bit more time to be optimistic, naive, etc. But yeah, the league is constantly changing, especially at quarterback. As much as we feel he's the guy, it truly does suck that he's going to miss the season. Now, the room for error is that much smaller when he returns. That's not really fair for JJM, but that's the life of an NFL quarterback. Gotta produce. And if he gets injured anytime soon after returning? You already know...

I think it was a fluke thing and everything will work out just fine (what choice do I have?!?), but yeah, no doubt about it, this injury sucked so bad. And it is a tiny lil red flag we weren't really prepared for. "Woohoo! QBOTF! Finally! ...oh, done for the year?! Back to Darnold, Mullens, and Hall, I guess." Something no one wanted for 2024. Exactly no one.

So, let's remain optimistic and naive as long as we can, but, you're new to Vikings fandom if all this didn't let at least a little bit of doubt creep in. So, whoskmoon isn't some bad guy for acknowledging some harsh realities, but I wish he didn't have to. But here we are... Because. Vikings.

We have been conditioned to expect the worst. Maybe not for the team, the Vikings always do well even if they can't win a championship, but it is almost always worst case scenario whenever our QBs get hurt. Culpepper, Bridgewater, Bradford, Cousins,the curse even managed to get Favre to finally miss a game due to injury.

Most of those QBs played again for other teams after their serious injuries, none so far have played for the Vikings again, and all were much lesser QBs when they played again. I guess we are due for a win?

AP tore his knee up. At that time he was alll we really had got 2000. Chad Greenway got hurt the kickoff of the first preseason and had a good career. JJ will be back and I can’t predict injuries but he should be fine off a meniscus should I will stress should.
