yes but it's not a race to see who can get developed the fastest. Keep in mind all the QBs you listed other than Williams are three years older than McCarthy as well
And I don't think anyone is sugarcoating anything. The situation sucks but it's not some death nail to McCarthy or the organization
The NFL is a dynamic league and you can’t disregard a lost year of development. In this league they are all rookies and will be in the league for(hopefully) a long time and during that time he will be a year behind his peers in experience and development. You can’t disregard that truth.
Nix is looking pretty good and as he gets to play this year those games will give him an edge in experience. Same with Williams. They will be going face to face for their careers and that extra year can make a big difference over the next several years in where they are in their development.
You might not care if the team is competing for a .500 or a SB but many fans would like a better team than the division opponents.
Here is the response to this. The most dedicated and competitive players will rise to the top. The NFL is basically 100% injury rate so they all lose time. They are all super talented, but the ones most dedicated to their craft will rise.
