So why the F did they draft him, when all those other guys were on the field?
Plus, Ward is on a 1-yr deal and Jones II is on the last year of his rookie deal so both may not be back in 2025 and it's looking like the Turner pick will bear more fruit in 2025+ than in 2024 with the EDGE depth we have.
My question is: with Cashman out and Pace, Jr. not looking good in coverage, is there any possibility that Turner could get on the field in a hybrid ILB/OLB role that can cover, rush the passer and set edges? After all, Flores was quoted as comparing Turner to Dont’a Hightower, a similar (albeit bigger) player that Flores coached in New England who roamed all over New England's defense as a MLB, but played coverage and rushed the passer.
Great post!
If the team had any idea Ward and Pat would be playing at the level they're playing, they would've undoubtedly gone DT, CB, or G with their latter-round selection. That is, unless they believed Turner would be an absolute monster right out of the gate.
IMO, he needs a full offseason of training to add muscle and weight to be more effective coming off the edge.
