They paid him 10 mil to be the plan B if they couldn't get their QB in a trade. He's a slight upgrade from Mullens. It was a realistic outcome that they missed out on a QB in the draft given how much desperation there was for QB.
I do not believe Darnold was brought in to be anything other than a short term starter until the rookie was ready to go or until he got injured. They went through all kinds of bs last year not being ready for Cousins being injured and Darnold was a response to that.
I never said Darnold would be a long-term starter.
I mean considering he's only signed for 1 YEAR is kind of a clue, you know?
My thing is the belief by some here that JJ will start from day 1 which is highly unlikely.
My best guess is he'll start a few games at the end of the season to get his feet wet. (though the ideal situation is him not even seeing the field in the Regular season until 2025)
