Funkytown, kmillard, and 2 more like this

We just replaced 2 proven veteran players with draftees. Cousins and Hunter left in free agency, now we hope McCarthy and Turner replace them.
Yes, we got younger. But it is a big question mark whether McCarthy and Turner will be better than Cousins and Hunter, and if so, how soon. Every rookie has a potential to disappoint. Are we going to have the same great fortune we did in replacing Diggs with Jefferson?
I actually like most of what KAM did yesterday, and I am generally not a KAM fan. He was patient and did not overpay to get a QB, and I think KOC likes McCarthy nearly as well as Maye. The cost to get Turner was pretty steep: our 2nd and 3rd round picks next year, as well as the picks this year. That deal is a bit tougher to endorse, but again, I like the player they picked.
But the draft has not made the Vikings better than they were in 2023. Best case would be both McCarthy and Turner immediately providing what we got from Cousins and Hunter. Even if they can, we weren't good last year. KAM has mostly done great work with salary costs on this team, and this is just another step: 2 veterans with high salaries that wanted even larger salaries are now replaced by guys on rookie contracts.
I'll keep asking this: how is our talent level being improved since the end of the Zimmer era?
