So, this is what it's come to...
We have fans arguing about who is better, massive draft bust in year 7 or rookie QB who has never played a down. Guys, it sucks. They both suck, currently. It's up to McCarthy to prove he does not suck. I have a distinct feeling he is probably at least Darnold's equal, but time will tell if he is better. But for God's sake, can we stop pretending Darnold is suddenly going to turn his career around? It's not happening here or anywhere else. He is who he is!
Jeez, is this really the fate of the team? To argue between Sam Darnold and JJ McCarthy? Do we really have people trying to compare combines between a guy who was drafted 7 years ago and a guy who was just drafted? Darnold is a career backup. McCarthy is an unknown. Common sense people...
As far as KOC scheme goes he sucks as an OC, yes we know great over the middle terrible elsewhere. One trick ponies don't last unless they're Randy Moss and KOC is no Moss. He'll be gone in a few years, hopefully less after people get sick of watching him repeatedly fail to convert 3rd downs no matter who is starting. Doesn't take a genius to figure out what your players are good at. If FSU can figure it out you can bet the guys in the building already know. Sigh. I think KOC is just like Zimmer he doesn't want to admit he's wrong and he'll die on that hill until he's fired
The debate narrative comes down to this:
1- the offense is so complicated that a rookie can’t possibly come in and learn it in a year so Jmac needs to sit and let Darnold play.
2- it’s Darnold first year in the offense as well yet he will have it down by the time preseason ends and he will resurrect his career in the process while playing so good they can keep JMac on the bench.
