Really? We have 8 good young starters: Jefferson, Addison, Hockson, Darrisaw, O'Neill, Bynum, Metellus, and Pace. I'm being generous about Pace and Metellus TBH, but you can throw in Greenard.
KAM has cleaned up the aging vets and their cap space. His acquisition of talent has been putrid so far. This is not a team with sufficient talent yet that anything is wasted with Darnold. KAM needs to get about 4 more good starters here each of the next two offseasons, and if he can, THEN we can say it is a talented young team.
To your question: are we on the right path? Hard to say, but at best we're not too far down the path. 5 of those good players were left by Spielman, so I don't know if Kwesi is proceeding down the path quickly enough. I think a contender needs about 2/3 of the starters to be "good", and "good" means players who could start for most NFL teams. We're 7-8 guys short. Like I said earlier, KAM now needs to add 4 each of the next two offseasons. Maybe there are players on the roster who can develop: Ty Chandler, maybe Ingram, maybe some defensive players (Jaquelin Roy, Andre Carter, Mekhi Blackmon?) will step up the way Metellus did last year.
So far, I don't think KAM is getting us there fast enough. If we make a massive trade of draft picks to get 1 player, even a QB, I really doubt he can.
