I like your point about Defensive points allowed being critical to a QBs won loss record and W/L for QBs should not be a stat and officially I don't think it is. Mahomes is NOT as good as people think he is.
This was from before the 2022 season, but still a large enough sample size where it becomes clear Darnold's offense was just as big of an issue as his defense:
A .444 win % when the defense gives up 16-20 points is pathetic. Winning a 3rd of his games in the range Mahomes had never lost is also quite bad. He looks a little better when looking at higher points given up by the D:
Similar to Cousins here, but that clearly isn't a good thing. Notice how Mahomes is still winning half his games even when his defense is giving up 35 points. Crazy.
Long story short, historically Darnold's defenses need to give up 15 points or fewer in games to win. Why did we sign him again?
Weird how that is your stance all of a sudden after having said this previously :
There is no question in my mind that Sam Darnold's best years are ahead of him. Mostly because he couldn't be any worse than he was with Carolina and the Jets and has nowhere to go but up.
Luke-warm Pro-Darnold or Staunch Anti-Darnold?
Make up your mind.
(btw, I'm not even going to bother reminding you of the surrounding sh-tshow he was working within those two franchises 'cause I know you know that already)
