With 2 offseasons of data it's pretty clear that Kwesi prefers to go into the Draft with as many spots filled on the Roster as possible so he doesn't have to reach for a Position of Need.
It's certainly debatable how effective his strategy of stocking up on Tier 2 and Tier 3 Free Agents on short deals has been. But for the purposes of this exercise, let's assume he does it again and see who all he might be targeting.
QB aside, which is a whole different animal, I think the primary target has to be Edge. The only ones under Contract at the moment are Jones II & Carter II. Even if he brings Hunter or Wonnum or both back he's doubtlessly looking for someone to replace Davenport.
I'm thinking someone like Darrell Taylor (26) with the Seahags. A.J. Esepenesa (25) with the Bills. Mike Danna (25) with the Chiefs. Dorance Armstrong (26) with the Cowboys.
Andrew Van Ginkel seems like a no brainer since he's played for Flores before. But he is 28 already. And will be 29 before next season starts.
I would also think someone like Josh Uche (25) with the Patriots would be on their radar as a possible replacement for Wonnum if he isn't retained.
Huff will get a look but I'm betting some Team swimming in cap space will over pay for him. Greenard to me is the 'What If Wonnum didn't suck against the Run' player that gets too much of his production from Teammates chasing the QB into his lap.
The last guy is Chase Young. Again, I think someone overpays for him.
While I don't think Cap Space is going to be dire as Krauser, Uncle, Luke Braun and others have made abundantly clear, Kwesi needs to plug at least 3 holes on Defense (and 4 if Hunter leaves) and 2 on Offense (3 if Cousins leaves).
If he's consistent this offseason he needs to add a lot of guys so he can stay true to his Board on Draft Day.
Any names I'm missing? What roles should be next?
I am looking at DT (Bullard or a replacement), ILB (Hicks or a replacement), LG (Risner or a replacement) and WR3 (Powell or a replacement). Osborn needs to get gone. Stone hands and can't separate.
Some of these guys are coming back. But definitely not all. Let's discuss!
