We suck. Our recipe for success is the worst in the North.

The safest way to keep their job is to make the post season next year at all costs. There goes any type of rebuild fans were hoping for...
To speak Lions, people always go back to "Well theyve been tanking for 70years they have to eventually hit" No they finally hit on the GM and the coach is connected and committed as well. Im not the biggest Campell guy I think Ben johnson is the real key to the team, but he has hired a great staff and was committed to Holmes plan. They committed to the rebuild and have drafted very well for years now. The key to team building is through draft, it is very hard to do but thats how you establish a team. The closest we had to this was the beginning of the Zim and Rick era. Unfortunate luck and trying to cheat the system in 2018 has had a trickle down effect to this day.
Exactly. We have no idea what is going on because they keep trying to play both sides and it isn't working on either front. So if they move on from Kirk, eat the cap hit and stay cheap at the position with a rookie QB we do sort of set up a window after next season with a QB that hopefully has some experience to learn from. However that approach is likely to leave us in a spot where we are projected for below .500 going into the season (we went from 9.5 to 8.5 year 1 to 2 and I think moving on from Kirk brings it down further). If this regime is on the hot seat to the level most fans are talking about, why in the world would they follow through with that plan just to lose their jobs? It makes way more sense for them to keep Kirk around and fight for the playoffs even if it means pushing more cap into the future and putting us in a similar hole repeating those same cycles of trying to compete. There just isn't a clear coherent plan so no one has any idea what they are actually going to do.
I fully agree on Detroit too. I think anyone who says we can never win because we are the Vikings and look at our history is off base too. The issue is simply the way the organizations are being run. Instead of the new regime coming in and doing a competitive rebuild around a solid QB option (Stafford) they realized they needed a forward thinking plan to rebuild. That's the difference and a big reason why they now have as many playoff wins this season as we have since Favre. They traded for assets, had a lot of high picks and now they are reaping the benefits with much more young talent to build around. Any team can have success with a good plan and the right people running it as you get at. If they had done the same thing we did and kept Stafford instead and not had so many high picks to work with while paying up for him... Well they probably are still at the bottom of the NFC North. Now that might be us because we chose a route with no real direction instead of that type of approach.
