Back by popular no demand at all.
In case you forgot, a quick reminder what this system is all about. Lets say the opposing defense gives up 350 yards per game on average, and your offense racks up 400 yards against them. Well you win +50 S.M.A.R.T.A.S.S. points for that game. Do that for all 17 opponents on offense and defense and BOOM! That's the system. Nothing too complicated. I'm probably a little biased, but I think this system is better than the traditional volume stats ranking system because it takes the strength of your opponents into consideration.
Overall it looks like 2023 wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Yeah boy howdy, the defense was playing lights out for about 10 straight weeks in the middle of the season before crashing and burning that final month. And the offense was about as inconsistent as it gets.
A look back at last years mostly fraudulent season:

All the juicy data:
All the juicy data from 2022:
Whoa! Who saw that coming? Despite the much worse record, we were much less fraudulent in 2023.
Team by team improvement from 2022 to 2023:
Mostly thanks to the defense huh? And wow, who knew the rushing attack was actually better with Mattison over Cook? And don't tell the Kirkistans, but the Vikings still ranked 3rd in passing S.M.A.R.T.A.S.S. just like last year, without the MVP.
The following grid is just a nice visual of the juicy 2023 data (offense/defense TOT columns).
*ghosted helmets = last years results
