The All 22 shows Michigan, with a DC that came back to college from the NFL, running concepts neither the Washington Coaching Staff nor their QB had literally ever seen before. Literally, flipping, ever, seen, before.
Minter deserves a ton of credit. As does McDonald before him. And 1,000% Harbaugh for hiring former NFL guys to be DCs back to back. Both guys from his brother John's Ravens, IIRC.
Simulated pressures. Mostly seamlessly passing off Receivers. Dominating the Husky Offensive Line. Shutting down the run game.
Penix was completely out of the comfort zone that he stayed in against the Longhorns. The Washington Coaches were completely outcoached by their counterparts.
But think about the facts. Undisputed facts that I just laid out. Michigan, with better players AND better Coaching, completely shut down Penix.
Do those facts completely erase back to back 4,500 yard seasons? Something not achieved at the collegiate level since some dude named Mahomes?
No. The best performer on the field, and the sidelines last night, was Jesse Minter. By a country mile.
I have no idea if Penix will check out medically. If he does, and Vikings fans are all out on him solely because of how he played when his Coaches got their asses whupped, his O-Line got their asses whupped and Michael ended up getting his ass whupped because of those facts and his own play in one single game...
Well bless you. And good night Gracie. Recency Bias is a hell of thing, ain't it.
