Can’t wait to watch tonight. I’ve said through the fall that IF we bring Kirk back then I think the odds of us going with JJ as a developmental guy go up considerably. He’s insanely younger than the other non Williams/Maye prospects so you can deal with him sitting a year or two whereas Nix/Penix that’s a harder sell.

Both of the OSU guys will have long careers in the NFL. Neither will ever sniff All Pro. Maybe a few Pro Bowls. Chop Robinson is completely reliant on his speed. I have a 2nd Round grade on Trice. It's just not a great Class period. No Blue Chip Prospects AND bad depth is not a good thing.

My ideal scenario is taking Turner, trading up for McCarthy and inking Tannehill to a 2 year deal with an out after Year 1 if McCarthy is ready.

Uncle is someone I respect a ton but I've watched a bunch of film and reviews of all the QBs. Of them all Penix and McCarthy fit the bill the best of guys who stand tall in the pocket and deliver to their primary read when he's open. Maye also, but he's not a realistic target, IMO.

The second thing Kevin values is quickly coming off your primary read if it isn't there and getting through your progressions. Penix is a tick slow at this. Frankly, there aren't many kids ever who come out that zip through full field reads. Andrew Luck was the last one.

But Penix is still miles ahead of McCarthy in this category. Michigan doesn't ask JJ to do it a lot. And he doesn't have the horses to throw to that Penix has.

Or, they could spend the money on players in other areas and pick up someone like Tannehill or Brissett to be the bridge. If Mullens can rack up 1300 yards and 7 TD's in what was basically 3 and a half games what could one of these guys do? Especially if O'Connell can fix the run game and add some quick passes and find the screen to give the offense more notes to play.

I just don't think Kirk is necessary anymore. The team isn't a real playoff contender and has a lot of holes to fill. We need a clean break.

Do you mean no one in general as in nfl at the moment. Because I would love to point out mahomes, stroud and Lamar do really well. I see stroud do that almost every week. Btw how in the heck did Carolina miss that huge on stroud? Oh I know their fo was completely incompetent along with someone at the combine trying throw a lot of negative stuff out about stroud so he would fall. Was listening to a podcast and they said their is credible evidence of a couple teams blatantly trying to dirty up stroud pre draft in hopes they were able to get him. Would be interesting to hear who they are.

Be with where our strengths on the roster are in tackle and wr, this is the perfect year to shoot for the moon on drafting a qb early because the strength of this draft as far as blue chip players is the o tackle and wr’s and since that is our strength, we don’t need to worry about those positions early.

I also have it as Williams, Maye, Daniels and Penix in that order with both Williams and Maye having Top 5 ceilings.

The things I like about McCarthy are age.(just 21 as a Rookie), arm strength, speed (likely runs a 4.4) and his fearlessness when it comes to throwing to his primary read.

O'Connell talked a lot when he first got to Minnesota about having to get on Cousins to stay on his primary read longer and throw it to that read more even if he doesn't look like he's open.

JJ does that. He'll need coaching up on progressions. But he's a blank canvas for Kevin to program to be his own Stafford.

Yeah that’s the thing I can get on the McCarthy drafting side part, but not at 11. It would have to be if we are trading far back into round one or where we take a different guy at 11 and then trade up from our second round pick into top of second round or bottom of first round.
